This article honestly made me upset, and not because I am a woman or a feminist. It just made me honestly sad that someone could say something like this about another person, or about something that possibly makes someone comfortable.
One of the main points of this post was that women just shouldn’t wear leggings in general. Yes, I do agree that some leggings are just too thin to wear by themselves or wear with a short shirt, but most leggings now are made thick so women can wear them however they want. I remember reading something about how if a woman does have the legs to wear leggings that the author believed they should still be able to wear them. Then, he proceeded to say that the women who don’t have the body should not wear them. A specific quote was, “yes ladies, we are judging you,” and that is etched into my brain forever as a woman. Women already have so much to worry about when it comes to appearances and this man made it ten times worse just by saying that. No matter what size a woman is, she should be able to wear whatever she likes if it makes HER comfortable. Yes, gentlemen (mainly the ones who say things like this) women do not dress up just for you. Sorry boys!
Another point about this article that really upset me was that according to the author, leggings are pretty much trashy and not classy. He then proceeds to say that a nice tight pair of jeans/pants does just the trick. Lately, there is no difference between leggings and a tight pair of skinny jeans. They both show just the same amount of body, so I don’t know where exactly he came up with that one. The only difference between a pair of skinny jeans and a pair of leggings is that leggings can be COMFORTABLE and CLASSY at the same time. Really, it just depends on what you wear leggings with and a woman’s outfit can be casual, formal, sporty, lazy, etc.
The point is, anyone of any size can wear what they want if it makes them comfortable and I want everyone to realize that. Dress for YOU and no one else. For every one person out there that judges you, there are millions more who love you for YOU.
