You have this one life. How do you wanna spend it? Apologizing? Regretting? Questioning? Hating yourself? Dieting? Running after people who don’t see you? Be brave. Believe in yourself. Do what feels good. Take risks. You have this one life. Make yourself proud.

Our good friend @quietpinetrees has brought his microfiction to tumblr and it is achingly beautiful.
oh this is gorgeous
Let’s say 95% of you doesn’t want to get better. There’s 5% of you that is trying to protect you. Both parts are real. Both parts exist for a reason. Let both parts be heard, and listen a bit more closely to that 5%

i think the reason it is confusing to be both the girl in the red dress and the girl with purple hair and leather jackets and the girl who hides in libraries is that we teach our children: what you see is what you get. that humans are two-dimensional. that you cannot love pink and video games. that you cannot love metal music and kittens. that you cannot be gentle and strong. this hurts us all - even i find myself saying things like “i’m not the kind of person who could pull this outfit off.” but i am, and so are you, no matter what you look like. there is no one who paints who you are except your own fingers. you are holding the brush. you do not erase your sense of humor when you have to be serious. you do not lose your strength when you cry because puppies.
Masks was the story I wrote for the Valor Anthology (such a gorgeous book, you should pick it up!!). It was inspired by a summer semester I spent in Italy back in 2009. Venice is such a strange, melancholy, mysterious feeling place, and I was totally captivated by the mascheri – in fact, I wound up making a series of masks upon my return as a capstone project! Masks was traditionally painted on Langton Prestige hot press paper using Winsor Newton’s Cotman line of pan watercolours.
Those who follow my webcomic, Beauty and The Beast, may notice a couple of small cameos here ;)
Saw this circulating again and had to share! Such a beautiful comic!
My grandpa has Alzheimer’s so he has no idea who my grandma is but everyday for the last three or four months he brings her in flowers from their garden and asks her to run away with him and be his wife and everyday she says she already is and everyday the smile my grandpa gets on his face is the most beautiful heartfelt thing I have ever seen.
I’m scared no one will love me.
I’m scared someone will love and then see me sad or angry or naked or tired and then stop.
