Mike always seems to be getting into situations! What does he do when the other boys are ill?
“Mikeee!” Cried Micky from his and Mike’s bedroom, “Could you bring me some of that leftover soup?”
“I’m coming, Micky, I’m coming…” Mike muttered under his breath, hurrying in with a tray, “Alright, here we are. I got you some soup, I brought you your stuffed monkey a fan got us, and I brought a damp wash cloth for your head to bring down that fever.”
“Thanks, Mike.” Micky smiled tiredly at him and went to take a bite of his soup before cringing, “It’s too hot! Can you blow on it for me?”
“Blow on it for you?! Have you lost your—“ Mike turned away and took a breath.
Mike sighed, “Alright, alright.”
He picked up the spoon and blew on the broth then fed it to Micky, who looked very pleased with this arrangement. They did that a few more times before whining could be heard from Davy and Peter’s room.
He heaved out another deep sigh, looking up at the ceiling as if praying for strength, “Sorry, Mick. The guys need something again. Keep eating your soup and drink up that ginger ale I brought you earlier for your stomach!”
Mike dashed into the next room, panting
“Mike? Can you get my red blanket, please? Peter took it.” Davy sent an accusatory glare towards his friend.
“I told you, it was an accident!” Peter turned away to cough into his arm.
“What’s wrong with the blankets y’all got?” Mike asked, out of breath.
“It’s not my red one. That one was made for me.” Davy insisted.
“You beat all…” Mike sighed and swapped the blankets between Davy and Peter, but then Davy wouldn’t take it.
“I can’t have it now! Peter got all his germs on it…” he cringed away from the blanket, “Can you wash it for me?”
“Wha—wash it for you? That means I have to go all the way to the laundromat!” Mike made a face.
“It’s okay, I have my blanket covers until you get back.” Davy shuffled in his bed, comfortably.
“While you’re out, Mike, can you get me some things from the store?” Peter held out a list, “Like popsicles for our throats, cough medicine, tea, ice cream—“
“Ice cream?! You already want popsicles, you want ice cream too?” Mike looked down the long list, incredulously.
“Because when we eat it, it’ll tell our brains that we’re happy and—and it’ll make us feel better quicker!” Peter rambled with a little hopeful grin.
“I like that thinking, Pete.” Davy pointed at him.
Mike ran a hand down his face, “If it’ll get me out of this mad house, fine! Try to get some rest while I’m gone and phone the grocery store or the laundromat if there’s an emergency.”
He told Micky he’d be back then he collected their blankets to take to the laundromat, but as soon as he went out the door, he had to pause to…”AAACHOO!”
He sneezed into his arm and groaned, feeling a wave of nausea go over him. He adjusted his hat and sniffed, regaining his composure, “Must be getting allergies or somethin’.”
He dismissed the moment entirely, hurrying to the Monkeemobile with the blankets before somebody hollered after him for something else.
