Sorry, but like. If it isn't second person, it isn't reader-insert. It's now a story about a character who is not the reader. Which is fine! I love stories like that too.

But reader-insert inherently requires the "you" pronoun and second person POV, because that is the invitation and integration of the reader into the narrative. Anything else just straight up is not reader-insert, categorically, and pretending otherwise does not make it any more true lol.
