Later that night Jim was tossing and turning in her bed, sheets twisted around her body- pillow thrown across the room. Words unable to make it past her clenched teeth as she fought against the burning sands in her head. Threatening to surround and suffocate her, slipping in under her fingernails, sliding over her teeth as she gasped for air. Circling inside of her and burning their way through her brain.

“Just being my usual charming self.” She played off. Feeling her face heat up in embarrassment.
Bones continued to watch her, an intense look on her face.
I wonder how far that blush really goes.
She felt her face heat up even more. Oh god. She wasn’t going to judge Bone’s for her random stray thoughts, she’d be such a hypocrite if she did. But, fuck, why did she have to have them now of all times.

“Jim.” A voice spoke out from the doorway, both women turned, Lenora taking another step closer before her whole body tensed up.
“Lenora, meet one of my farm hands.” Jim said, standing between them. Voice higher than before. “Hired her a few days ago, been a real big help. In fact, she was just going to go feed the chickens, and I’ve got a lot of other farm related things to do so maybe you should just le-“
“That’s. That’s clearly an alien.” Lenora wasn’t born yesterday, thank you very much.

“Don’t go blaming me.” Lenora said indignantly. “Just because you get turned on when the wind changes direction, doesn’t mean the rest of us have so little control.”
“And you sure are the epitome of control, Bones.” Lenora was sure that was sarcasm.
Jim grabbed the back of Lenora’s chair, tugging it backward- the wheels on the chair betraying Lenora by moving. “Jim, c’mon. I’m trying to study.” She stubbornly clung to the desk, not letting Jim drag her any further.

Jim leaned her head in, pressing a quick kiss just below her ear, before darting away. Len’s hand on her hip falling away at the shock

“ ‘scuse me. You wouldn’t happen to know where the panel for the Bioneural Stabilizer is would ya?” She needed to stop laying down the southern accent. The man didn’t even have to see her name badge if she covered it.
Unfortunately for her, by the time she thought of that the man had clearly already read it. And did not seem impressed.
“Shouldn’t you know where your own panel is? Dr. McCoy.” The man looked her up and down, like he was looking at a particularly disgusting specimen in his lab.

She turned around, ready to start yelling at whatever idiot had managed to fuck up already that night.
Only to be struck speechless at the sight of her partners, holding hands in the doorway and wearing exact replicas of the nurse’s dress the enterprise used.

“I punched you.” Lenora said, all the strength gone from her voice, as well as her arm muscles as she struggled to hold up the thin sliver of ice against Jim’s face.
“Yeah, we’ve established that.”
“I punched you, Jim. I punched you so hard we fucking died again.”
Jim paused. Good eye meeting Lenora’s, tongue darting out to lick her lips before saying. “Well. Not something you can put on your resume. But that’s a pretty neat trick.”
🌸🌸🌸🌸Between the fics that I didn’t finish editing and the others I have half written, I’ll be posting similar stories in the upcoming months. When they’re done I’ll add a part two to this master post. However, if you want to read them as soon as they’re up you can subscribe to my AO3 🌸🌸🌸🌸
