ugh dont think too hard about how crutchie is literally the reason behind everything jack does in the entirety of act two. dont think too hard about how there is no act 2 without crutchied arrest. dontttt think for more than 20 seconds about how jack is nothing without his best friend by his side and we literally have an entire act showcasing that. the brothers ever.

Is it just be or do jack and crutchie kinda swap mindsets over the course of newsies. the first song is jack literally fantasising about santa fe while crutchie is more grounded, but in santa fe (the one at the end of act I) it’s Jack who recognises that he’s stuck and that santa fe is just a fantasy and in letter from the refuge crutchie (despite his much worse situation) stays optimistic about a better life. no just me? ok
