"Well, well, isn't this a blast from the past? I remember that hair. And the trainers. How are you, Doctor?"
A…… Astrid!?
But wh— how is this possible?
"I'm afraid that's a bit of a long story. I don't suppose you have time for a quick cuppa? It'd be nice to catch up."
”Howzitbout ya play wit’ me, darlin’?”
Astrid laughed. "Nice to see you too, Creed. I'm afraid I don't have time for a rousing game of chase just this moment, but I won't say no to a drink."
stardustastrid said:
"Yes, but it appears my aim is improving. How are you, Brendan dear?"
"M’ wonderful, love, if a bit tired. First time being home in awhile. I ‘ad a business trip t’ France tha’ I couldn’t get out of." It was only partially a lie. While it was true that Brendan had taken a trip to France, his reasons for doing so were not at all related to work. "I’ve missed yeh too, Astrid. I’ve not seen yeh in ages."
"I...had to get away for a while." Idly, she rubbed the empty spot on her left ring finger. "I got married and then, well, things went sort of pear-shaped. He decided I wasn't what he wanted, and he left. I don't blame him much, really. But after that, things got so...difficult. Everything made me sad and I needed to go home. So I took my son to the place where I was raised and that's where I've been until just recently."
stardustastrid:
Halfway between the park and the diner, there was a small, quiet alley between two townhouses. Astrid skidded around the corner, then came to a screeching halt as a familiar figure came into view at the other end. She stood transfixed, hair plastered to her face, coat half-buttoned, out of breath. For the space of a small eternity, all was perfectly still.
Then her whole face lightened up with a grin.
"I knew it. I knew it was you."
Thor turned his gaze upward, where the last dregs of the storm played out through the spent black clouds. The voice of the thunder as good as his own. She’d recognized him from his storm as surely as it was his voice calling her name.
"I’m glad to see that your intuition is no less adroit after all this time.”
"Well, when you hear a god speak through a storm, you don't tend to forget the sound."
Astrid paused a moment, uncertain. Was there some sort of protocol to these situations? Where they still on the good terms she remembered? Were new boundaries in place now? Things might have changed; she had no way of knowing, and considering how much difference there was in her life, it wasn't illogical. He might've married. Had children. Ascended the throne, for all she knew.
Would it be gauche to hug the King of Asgard?
"It's...It's been a long time, Thor. I'm really glad to see you."
Astrid paused, pen poised over the ledger, making a blot at the tail end of the number “5.” She knew that sound. Knew it in her bones as well as she knew the sound of the wind in the eaves or the birds singing their absurdly early morning chorus.
There was only one storm that boomed like that.
Leaving the ledger half-marked, she threw on her coat, swung out the door and down the stairs, and sprinted for the park. The rain pelted her face and soaked into her clothes. Halfway there, she could already smell ozone and ancient metal.
The power of the storm receded as a familiar face came into view. It had been too long since he’d visited Midgard— too long since he’d looked upon the realm he held so beloved, without need for violence or des- -truction in its defense. He felt responsible for its well- being, but somehow, he felt inadequate to the role when all he ever managed to do was tear the Earth to pieces.
The surging rain ebbed to a faint patter, and he found himself taking long strides toward Astrid’s door. He didn’t know quite what to say— so for a long moment he said nothing at all.

"I knew it. I knew it was you."
The blonde behind the counter smiled and saluted. "Morning, Captain. What can I get you?"
"I’m sorry, Have we met, Ma’am?"
"Not officially, but I do watch the news." She ducked out from behind the register to extend a hand. "Astrid Peth. Pleased to meet you."
stardustastrid:
"Oh, you don’t know him, it’s okay. Spence is my head chef. He’s running the diner now, since I’m off-world a fair amount. And yes, Connor is my son. I was married…briefly…and Conn was born just before Christmas a couple of years ago. I took him to stay with the nuns who raised me on Sto, for safety’s sake."
' busy bee, it sounds like. I didn’t know you had married, or had a child, to be honest. I’ve been quite busy myself. you must be on Sto for most of your time though, I haven’t seen you around. ’
"I have been, for quite a while now. I needed to get away, clear my head, be a mother to my son, refocus. I don't know when I'll be leaving Earth again, but for now, it's nice to be back. What are you up to these days, besides looking sickeningly fabulous?"
"Well, well, well. Now aren't you a sight for sore eyes?"
”Gotta’ say the same for you, darlin’. What grave did you crawl out of?”
"One too many for my liking." The blonde grinned toothily. "Bring it in, home girl. I miss my Gabby hugs."
stardustastrid:
"The same, I suppose. I’ve been home for a few weeks, just laying low, helping out with the diner. Spence is doing a great job with the place. Connor’s still with the Good Sisters on Sto, and he’s growing like a weed."
' I’m afraid I’m not up to date with everything that’s happened with you, Astrid. I assume that Connor is your child, who is Spence? ’
"Oh, you don't know him, it's okay. Spence is my head chef. He's running the diner now, since I'm off-world a fair amount. And yes, Connor is my son. I was married...briefly...and Conn was born just before Christmas a couple of years ago. I took him to stay with the nuns who raised me on Sto, for safety's sake."
( x )
' I’m—— well. mostly still kicking. what about you? ’
"The same, I suppose. I've been home for a few weeks, just laying low, helping out with the diner. Spence is doing a great job with the place. Connor's still with the Good Sisters on Sto, and he's growing like a weed."
"You're certainly looking well, Miss Sassy."
' from your lips to God’s ear, so they say. don’t I always look well? ’
"Oh, that goes without saying, dear." Astrid grinned. "How are you, Lilly?"
*flails joyously because my favorite Thor mun and muse are back* X)
stardustastrid replied to your post:*nudge* This is your friendly neighborhood greyface here, with a notice that THERE ARE THASTRID RUMBLINGS ON MY DASH.
// We STILL have shippers?!
i might be the only one left but i’ll ride and die with that ship >.>
// Well, I can't promise anything, but both of our muses appear to be back, so we'll have to wait and see.
The sky above shuddered and cracked, bright lightning searing through the storm and illuminating the peaks of the clouds overhead. Heralded by the deep baying of thunder, the lightning leaped down to meet the bright silver head of Mjolnir, held aloft by the strong hand of the Asgardian prince.

Mmph...is it Halloween already?
If there's one thing Astrid's missed about New York, it's the nightlife. There aren't a heck of a lot of good dive bars on Sto, and tying one on does take a backseat to childcare. So, it is with no small amount of relish that she's tucking into her whiskey when she notices a familiar hulking figure at the other end of the bar. "Well I'll be damned," she smiles into her glass. "It's a small planet after all. Barkeep, send the gentleman one on me."
Pointing to the glass (or glasses) in front of him that had been filled with nothing but Johnny Walker. Victor couldn’t fight back the smile that decided to stretch across his face as he leaned into the squeaking leather upholstery of the stool he occupied. Tapping the mahogany wood of the bar in front of him with his right hand ni a bit of a nameless melody. Puckering his lips together and pressing his tongue up against from behind his teeth. Whistling. ”An’ whaddaya know?” Laughter erupted from the Lupine’s rumbling chest as he shifted his position in his seat. “Where have y’been, girrrrrl?”
"Off-world." Astrid smiled from her seat down the way, then slid down and strolled over, glass in hand, to claim another spot more conducive to conversation. "But I got homesick, so I thought I’d come and see if New York was still standing." She raised her glass. "How’ve you been, Creed?"
