Just for a minute. Can we?
I like to say I was thankful to my school bully, because without him, I wouldn’t be in this position now. I thought that was a weakness, but I realise now those sensitivities can be a real strength. Today I celebrate my sensitivities. Defining experience you never forget. I have not forgotten who bullied me, but I’m not going to name and shame them. I know now that it goes on everywhere, and I also have more understanding of what makes a bully. They’ve been bullied before.
At best, making films and plays, and telling stories, and writing books, at the end of the day it’s important and it may not be as important as other things, but people want to see themselves reflected and feel like they’re not alone. If I’m going to do any job, I want to do it to the best of my ability and be as generous as possible.
He runs his hand along his face somewhat wearily, attempting to appear at full alertness. He knows how much this trip means to her, but he'd fallen pry to a gaming session half the night and was ever-so-slightly overtired. Luckily, this is nothing new for him.
"We're hereeee. We made it and we're here. Yay. Yayle. Get psyched."
He glances around the campus shortly after he stops speaking, arm draped loosely around her shoulders -- it really is beautiful.
"Huh? What no, I’m awake."
"Do you just drop and sleep anywhere now?"
"You are aware that you’re not actually Spiderman, right?"
"Or should I start calling you bug boy?"
"Do you know that for sure?"
In a perfect world, he'd be a webslinging superhero -- except with parents.
"Spun a web and now here I am."
He turned to glance behind him at the ladder still leaned against the back of the structure, gesturing for her to go to it.
"Come up."
"Did you ever ask for a pony?”
"Should I have to?"
"I cooooould get down, sure." Patrick's voice responded playfully to the worried one beneath his elevated height, leg swinging absently.
"But I quite like it up here."
"It’s such a lovely day."
"How you gonna spend it?"
