jiah had lost her date amongst the people that were attending the ball, having lost track of which direction the male had gone, she wasn’t expecting them to spend the entire night together, but she wasn’t that keen on getting left behind either. shrugging to herself, she hummed, it could’ve been worse. 

losing her date wasn’t gonna stop her from having fun and it surely wasn’t the end of the world. she had all the freedom in the world to explore the place, something she loved to do. having been a big fan of exploring places ever since she was a kid, she often found herself going places without a map, finding it more interesting than to follow a guide and not be able to explore and see things for herself.

deciding to start her exploration off with a drink, she got a refill. taking a sip of the drink before turning around and looking around the room. where to start? she tilted her head to the side, nodding to herself as she started walking across the room, drink in hand. with her goal in sight she wasn’t watching any of the other people in the room, too focused on the hallway she was walking to, her mistake became clear when she bumped into someone. 

she let out a sound of surprise as her drink spilled all over the place, her dress, the floor and the other person’s clothes not surviving the blow. her mind not yet having registered what had just happened, she stumbled back. “sorry!” she blurted out when she looked over the scene and up to the other person. “i’m sorry...”

HISTORY

jiah was adopted when she was only a year old, her biological mother, a single teenage mom, not having the resources to take care of a young child on her own giving up her baby girl with pain in her heart. growing up with her adoptive parents, a young gay couple, jiah got everything she wanted. she was very loved by both her mothers and loved them back just as much.

with both her mothers being politicians, the girl early on learned a lot about life and how people treat each other, the unfairness of the world upsetting her greatly. wanting to be a light for others jiah has always been very loved by everyone around her. trying her best to help out everyone as much as she can, she often places her own needs aside in order to help others.

jiah always finds a reason to smile, she tends to look for the good in people and tries to enjoy life to its fullest. no matter how grave the situation, jiah will stay positive, believing things will get better.

jiah was late, having spent too long talking to her best friend and stressing over her outfit, she totally was late. hearing the music coming from inside she felt a rush of excitement go through her body, closely followed by nerves. she hummed, looking over herself once more before entering the building. 

she hadn’t met up with her partner as often as she probably should have and the idea of spending time with the male made her nervous. despite her excitement towards the program, she wasn’t exactly sure how the other felt about it and she wasn’t interested in forcing anyone into spending time with her, even if it could affect her grades. 

looking around the place she found the male quite quickly, making her way over to him with a smile on her face. “hey, sorry i’m late...” she started, clasping her hands together in front of her and she stood next to him, her smile turning shy as she took in what the male was wearing. she wasn’t gonna lie, of course he was handsome, which in return just made her even more nervous. “did i miss anything?”

It was Apollo’s sister who insisted that he get some flowers for Jiah. He would’ve done it without her asking–really, he would’ve–but a part of him still worried about it all being misconstrued as he rang her home’s doorbell. They’d agreed to go to the reception together and meet their respective partners there instead; having to wait around for each other was both the boon and bane of being neighbors with your best friend. After a few minutes, Apollo impatiently rang the doorbell again. “This girl, I swear…” he was mumbling as he fumbled for his phone–only to have the door swing wide open. His reaction to Jiah was an instant: “They said to be in formal wear, ugly,” he teased, feigning confusion. “God, and I brought you flowers and everything… You have enough of it in your dress already!”

Jiah had spent the entire evening picking out her outfit, having tried on multiple dresses and sending her friend a bazillion pictures of each one to ask for her opinion. Jiah didn’t often stress about clothing, the girl felt strangely out of place whenever she realised she’d spent hours on her looks, she’d never been insecure about how she looked. Only, tonight seemed to be different. Why? She didn’t know. Shaking her head she made her way down the stairs of her childhood home, just as the bell rang─ again. “Coming!” She yelled, knowing exactly who was on the other side of the door. Taking another glance into the mirror, the flowy material of the dress made her feel a like a princess.

As she opened he door, she came eye to eye with her best friend, the male looking more than handsome. “Well, thank you, Sir Jeffers.” She said, rolling her eyes at him playfully. “You do look quite dashing yourself.” She giggled, gladly accepting the flowers from the male. “For me?” She asked as she looked at him over the bouquet, her eyes twinkling happily. She hadn’t expected to be getting flowers from anyone that night, especially not someone who wasn’t her date, but it made her happy nonetheless. 

“Thanks, Ap. I wish i had something to give you in return...” She said, as she walked back inside the house, quickly taking the flowers to the kitchen. “Let me put these in a vase, they’re so beautiful.” The house was quiet, her moms having left to work early in the morning and probably not coming back till way after she herself would be coming home that night. “Are you excited for tonight?”

Ari had the chance to sneak away from her partner while he was chatting some other girls at the party. It was a reminder to her on why they wouldn’t ever work, something she kept trying to convince that voice in her head that felt like asking what if. She kept her distance from everyone, eyes judging those walking around her as she questioned how they could even be okay with any of this. When someone approached her and starting talking about the experiment, she sighed before responding. “Look, if you’re looking for someone to talk about how great spending a year being fake married to someone is going to be, I’m not it.” She told the before pointing to a place in the room. “I would recommend that gaggle of giggling students towards the front of the room.” 

Jiah patted her dress down as she exited the restroom, looking around herself as she tried to find her partner for the night, only, he was nowhere to be seen. “Well, then.” She said to herself, shrugging slightly. She was sure she’d find someone else to talk to, Jiah loved making new friends and was very exited to be socialising with some new people. The night’s young, she thought to herself, let’s enjoy it. After walking around a little longer, still looking around for her partner she saw a girl standing off to the side of the big room, she made her way over to her. “Lovely evening, don’t you thi-” She started, before getting cut off. She frowned, tilting her head slightly at the other’s words. “Ah, I just thought you might’ve wanted to hang out?” She shrugged, giving the other a soft smile. “Seeing we both seem to be by ourselves and, you know, two is better than one?”

jiah hummed, staring at her phone once more before turning it off and dropping it into her bag. sitting back on a bench, she stared up at the sky, letting her eyes slide over the white clouds that littered across the blue. the sun felt lovely on her skin and there was a soft breeze, not too hot, not too cold. 

rolling her head back, she closed her eyes, exhaustion coming over her all of a sudden. she opened her eyes again, blinking a couple times before getting up, grabbing her bag and turning to leave the small park, only to bump straight into someone, losing her footing and stumbling back a little. “shit, sorry...”

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

jiah’s first cries were heard on june 24, 1997 at 11:58pm exactly. her mother too young to care for a baby girl at the age of fifteen gave her up for adoption, while doing this a young couple on the other side of the world decided they wanted to adopt a baby. a couple months later the papers were signed and jiah was taken to her new home.

growing up with her adoptive parents, a young gay couple, jiah got everything she wanted. she was always a very happy and bright child, enjoying playing in the sun and dancing around in the living room with her mothers to their favourite songs. she was very loved by both her mothers and loved them back just as much.

─ “the thespian” jiah met apollo when they were both in high school, the boy moving into the house next to hers and they made quick friends. being close ever since the first day they ran into each other. while apollo doesn’t let so much people in, his best friend is one exception. she’s one of the few people he’s completely honest to and, if he dared to sit down and think of it, he’d probably realise he’s kind of in love of her.

─ “the quixotic” meeting eli in high school, jiah was quick to fall for the boy, he made her feel a certain way she’d never felt before for another person. sharing many firsts with him and promising him even more... till fate pulled him away from her, a tragic accident taking the male’s life away. heartbroken, but not beaten, the girl found friendship in her lover’s younger brother, building a close friendship with him over the years.
