Back to Nature

For you, it may be the colder temperatures creeping in, or the change in the leaves on the trees. Here, in SoCal at the Starlooks Headquarters, we know it’s fall when we get your hands on our first Pumpkin Spice Latte and that perfect shade of cool-toned lipstick.

PRIME

It’s 8:30 AM on a Monday, you’ve snoozed twice already and the only thing that’s giving you a reason to leave your snuggly sheets is that GOOORGEOUS bronze, shimmery Eye Shadow you finally convinced yourself was worth the splurge to purchase this past weekend.

It's 9:00 AM and it’s clearly a Miracle Monday, because you're already done up with your full-face makeup routine and head-turning outfit. You might actually survive the day!

STILL SEXY IN SPECS

Here’s the thing - eyeglasses can kind of (for lack of better words) make you either look like a total nerd and/or distract your admirers from your natural beauty….sorry, it’s just the truth!

For all of my fellow spectacle sporters, I’ve found a few MUST-HAVES to keep ‘em captivated, even behind those lenses.

Starlooks Eye Liner Pen

Starlooks Volume Mascara

I know what you’re thinking - the application of the wrong mascara can be tragic to your lenses! This can be easily avoided with the proper curl to the lash and right application technique. Remember, less is not more, so don’t leave those lashes naked!

Try this technique: after curling your lashes, start the application as close to your lash line as possible. Work the brush into the base of your lashes until you get enough coverage, from there, gently brush the lashes, only one stroke, not even coming to the tips of the lash. This will aid in avoiding those infuriating streaks you’re burdened to stare at all day. 

Okay, now that your eyes aren’t getting neglected, the rest of your face has to compete with those frames! For a POP of color that will not only complement your eyewear, but not let it steal the show, go for a brighter lip - or even a darker, deeper color, depending on your skin tone.

C O L O R

It’s time to shed the drab neutrals and quit playing it safe with the everyday nudes, blacks, and browns. Sure, these days no one is afraid to add a SPLASH of COLOR, but there’s just something about the warm weather that lets you feel much more expressive.

Summer gives us the freedom to play - not just to frolic about, basking in it's warmth, but to experiment with our style, as well. We shed a few layers... and okay, maybe some inhibitions too.

I could go on about freedom of expression, but let’s start by talking about all the possibilities when it comes to makeup alone. Here are some starters to get you out of your comfort zone a little bit, but  also attract some attention! ;)

For the EYES:

“Mardi Gras” 15 Shade Shadow Palette - this palette is a great intro to experimenting with adding some flare to your lids. This one in particular has a great combo of warm tones, as well as fun blues and complimentary greens. All of our 15 shade palettes contain color variations of our brilliant matte, sparkle, and satin shadows.

Also try any of our Eye Pigments for some fun color: these are great for a vibrant SHOCK!

ALL of the Gem Eye Pencils - They’re the best to have on hand for a quick pop of color while rushing out the door, or to glam up any outfit. They’re created with a metallic finish and are SO versatile that they can easily be used as liners, or eye bases. If I were you, I’d try them all!

Now for the LIPS:

“Perry” Lipstick - This is the perfect HOT Pink to pump up your pucker. It’s hard to go wrong with pink, especially in the warmer months, when everything needs to be a little brighter. Just wear it alone, or as a base for one of the Starlooks Lip Glosses! Since this is a matte color, sometimes I like to top it with “Victoria” to add a little luster. There are so many more fun colors to play around with in the Lipstick collection, but this one’s a good starter.

Lastly, but certainly NOT what you’re limited to, the cheeks:

“Fuschia” Satin Blush - You definitely don’t want to go overboard with this shade, but it will certainly add that rosy burst to your cheeks - this is one of our satin blushes, so it will add a little extra glow. Try any of our blushes to add the right amount of rouge, everyday!

Summer means play, but don't be shy to get a little experimental ANY time of the year!

LIP LUST

These days you can't get away with just one signature pink or red lipstick, like a ‘50’s housewife could. I wouldn't be satisfied, it’s just not possible! Personally, and I DO NOT like to admit it, but I'm a lip gloss ADDICT, a lipstick fiend, a total lip balm junkie! Ugh, I have every brand, every color - plumpers, shine, liners, palettes, and just sticks upon sticks of lip STUFF! Unfortunately, it’s safe to say I'll fall on the high end of the “you’ll eat your weight in chapstick” statistic in my lifetime. It’s not my fault the beauty gods keep feeding my fix!

Ok, ok I'm selling myself short a little here… I do LOVE my lip products, but a girl does have her standards. Sure, I won’t turn down trying a new gloss, or the season’s MUST have color, but I do have my ABSOLUTE, can not live without, TOP 5 lip products that are probably ALL in my handbag at this very moment.

Here are my picks for THE BEST products - what I like on my pout on any given day:

STARLOOKS “Hot Mama” Lipstick - This lipstick gives my pucker a pop of contrast with its neon/orange-ish color. If you’re not so daring, or you're looking for more of an everyday look, there are so many more “intensely-saturated”, yet moisturizing options that you will LOVE. “Hot Mama” is matte, but these rich formulas also comes in a satin finish, as well.

STARLOOKS “Puzzy” Tendergloss - BY FAR the most frequently used of my favorites. Before I discovered this magical substance I had usually opted for a gloss on the day-to-day, BUT here is something that doubles as a lipstick and a lipgloss, and is now my GO-TO! It’s soft iridescence leaves my lips with a satiny finish and a silky feel.   

STARLOOKS “Tipsy” Lip Liner - I never really knew what to do with lip liner - until I tried the STARLOOKS line! Their lip liners are so incredibly creamy that they can easily double as a longwear lipstick alone! “Tipsy” offers the perfect base. Its light, playful pink color can be used to create lip contour, can be worn under a similar lipstick shade for longevity, or simply underneath a more translucent gloss.  

STARLOOKS “Victoria” Lip Gloss - My first instinct is ALWAYS go with GLOSS! “Victoria” has the perfect hot pink undertone with an iridescent, and most importantly, NON-STICKY finish. This gloss can also go anywhere - either a night out on the town, or to a casual girls luncheon. STARLOOKS has many more fun colors to choose from, either in traditional gloss or satin.

STARLOOKS “Eons” Longwear Lipstick - Emphasis on the “longwear”. Nothing is more annoying to me than having to apply a my lip color on a busy day. Who has time to do a makeup check when you have deadlines, errands, dinners, parties… you name it? NOT me! I particularly LOVE this color. The shade suites me so well and I can rely on it to not fade during my chaos. “Eons” is best described as more on the neutral side, it has a soft, yet deep, berry tint, which simply enhances the natural lip. Try ANY of the Longwears - you won't be disappointed.

There’s a color, a texture, and a look for every occasion and every outfit. With so many choices, it makes the decision super tricky. Just remember: you never have to settle for just one. So satisfy your temptation and try ‘em ALL!
