Language learning is 10% studying and 90% getting phrases stuck in your head

Last semester, I took Swedish and an intensive German course at the same time, and I’d like to give my insight into the experience, for anyone who might be considering taking two languages at once in highschool/university, as opposed to just taking one language course and learning the other on your own or learning both on your own. This post is HELLA long so I’m inserting a break, but if you have any questions or want advice about this topic, my ask box is always open!

Wow. I just watched “The Year With The Swedish Royal Family” and they seem like really amazing people. I know the royal family in my country (GB) gets a lot of talk and recognition, but as a native citizen I can say they are not nearly as down to earth and connected to the people as the Swedish family appears to be. I know it’s easy to fake involvement for the camera, but it’s plainly obvious that this family takes a much more active role in society than the British one does.
To see the crown princess almost in tears over the terror attacks and also out with the people on walks and in farms, drinking from lakes, fishing; it’s really something that would never happen with our royal family, they are so much more closed off from us. The closest thing we had was Diana. It’s very inspiring to see people who praise the good points of their country and actively work to bring attention to them :’)
