One of the most difficult things about being anti AI is having to explain why AI is different from other digital creation and why it's so harmful
Because in my heart I know why
However like. It makes me think about the era of modern digital tech coming out and how this is different than that
Or how photo mashing is a legitimate creation technique and how generating an image isn't
Or filters, clipping masks, and tons of other tools that are so commonly used in digital art & editing compared to, again, generating an image
Or synthesized music/vocals/vocaloids compared to AI music
And the list goes on and on
And yes, I agree that AI can be and is useful in many situations (such as difficult math and detecting early cancers in patients), but then that becomes the debate of where is the line drawn that separates ethical AI use from unethical AI use
And as much as I wish it was, there's a lot of nuance/vagueness and not so much genuine argument in saying "Humans put genuine work into this while an AI didn't" when saying why AI isn't good in the arts, which is still only one point compared to many others such as "it steals artists' work and styles". Hell, the only viable argument I feel I can make at the moment against AI is its environmental impact, because everyone genuinely knows the issue with that and we've been learning about the suffering of our planet for years
And don't even get me started on helpbots such as Google AI or ChatGPT, because in saying they make errors or manipulate people by saying what they want to hear, that argument dismisses the fact that humans also make errors and adjust their speech to better fit with what the audience wants!!!!
Idk man. I'm not ever justifying AI for these things. But I need to actually figure out my arguments as to WHY, because my heart and ethics unfortunately aren't a viable source. Like many things, there's so much nuance in this topic and debate, and if I actually want to convince people to see from my point of view, then I can't just say the same things over and over and over again. I need to know their perspectives and their point of views, then know how to refute them in a way that makes sense and is agreeable.
