@starsarndscars
anyway while im complaining i think i will also complain about the minecraft movie. we all say the trailers and mocked it fucking relentlessly for looking stupid and like just the biggest fucking cashgrab. and then it came out and everyone went to watch it. seriously???? we cant even boycott a movie that looks like shit. the characters look awfully out of place compared to the backdrop of the movie and i dont care if thats a choice its too fucking ugly to stare at for 90 minutes and everything ive seen about the movie seems like its just "hey look heres a thing you can do in minecraft that jack black knows about" like GODDD why are we doing this
Yellowjackets Season 3 | Episode 4 "12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis"
YELLOWJACKETS — S3E4: 12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis
SOPHIE THATCHER as NATALIE SCATORCCIO YELLOWJACKETS 3.04 "12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis"
natalie's funeral makes me want to chew glass. her eulogy barely being a minute long. her mother only remembering her as a small child, not as the teenager she was or the woman she became. her mother's only positive memory of her being a night on the swings when she was little. the memory conveying not the joy the two once managed to share together, or how simple things used to be, but about how much nat took, how demanding she was. shaming her, criticizing her, even in death. how no one, not even van, the storyteller---who made a face at how abrupt nat's eulogy was---stood up to share something nice about her after her mom left the stand. how the two yellowjackets closest to her before she died didn't make it to the reception---misty, because it would solidify the fact that nat was "really gone"*; lottie, because she was locked away. how the later toast in her supposed honor was quickly mutated into a toast centering shauna and tai's guilt and self-pity. how nat was used and discarded again, her role as leader and guide twisted into something impersonal and consumable. how everyone (except misty!) denies responsibility for her death. how nat's story was warped into a cautionary tale, rather than remembered as the tragedy it is. how she is now permanently confined to the role of provider and caretaker. she might not be physically consumed as jackie was, but she is similarly denied her personhood, valued only by what her death can provide, and crowned as a martyr for a sacrifice she never even made
underrated yellowjackets scene is misty storming through the door of nat‘s hotel room while nat is mid-relapse, bodyslamming nat into next week, just fucking snorting all the cocaine before nat can get to it and then fighting for her fucking life because, evidently, misty quigley has never done cocaine ever before. zero thought process, zero consideration, zero alternatives. misty quigley woman of all time.
nat being the one to find out abt misty destroying the 'transponder' is exactly how it was always going to go and i LOVE its where we ended up. its why adult nat is so cold and jaded and wary around adult misty, its why she knows inherently that misty cuts her battery cable, tampering w something again to be close to her. why nat is not completely surprised at misty spying on her in her hotel room with a camera. like sorry, since nat's s1 misty hallucination its always been them, intertwined in this resentful and twisted and devoted red string of fate they keep tugging and tugging on until misty eventually strangles her

Nosferatu (2024) dir. Robert Eggers
Thinking about "convinced they're a monster, terrified of getting close to people because they don't want to hurt them" x "you're not a monster to me but like I'm also a little into it when you get scary ngl" this sounds really specific but I've had several pairs of blorbos like that

oh my favorite trope? two people who go through something so unique and agonizing and entirely beyond words that they have no choice but to create a bond that transcends all other types of love, thus acting as the sole point of understanding for the other person in a world that cannot fathom what they’ve been through
