What fascinates me most about Donna’s works is that they are all populated by ghosts. Shadows on the periphery, presences that overflow the pages like the secret of a secret, to the point where you end up wondering what would happen if you turned around, as if you didn’t know the end of that myth. They all have something of a dark fairy tale and vestiges of long sleepless nights, when all you need is something to pull you to the surface and all that seems to exist in the world is the ghostly echo of Henry Winter’s footsteps and the beating of your own heart.
I made an edit of The Secret History (also posted on my tiktok)

By the way once you finish reading The Secret History you start being haunted by the memory of Henry in the same way all the characters are. Doesn't even matter if you hated him or loved him he will just be there with you forever now
