The concept of David being annoyed and jealous when he finds out that Star is attracted to the new kid in town. But then he finally meets Michael, and he's just completely thrown off by how ACTUALLY good and beautiful he is. And then he wants Michael all to himself.

I love the fact that when adapting The Lost Boys into a musical the writers saw how in the movie they tricked Michael into drinking David’s blood and went: hey what if David just slit his hand right in front of Michael and said would you drink this and be with me forever? And Michael was like hell yeah.

I totally get why they added more tension into the Emerson's family dynamic in the musical, because they had to worry about those pesky little things like Plot and Themes, but it will never change how near and dear to my heart the portrayal of that family is in the original movie is.

Like?? Michael jokingly chasing Sam through their new house, while Sam yells "He's gonna get me!" to their mom. The way they casually stand close to each other and Michael puts his arm around Sam. Lucy not shaming Sam for needing her to still check the closet for him and making a lighthearted joke about it instead. Lucy letting her 15 year old son sleep in bed with her without question, right after he'd ruined her date just because she thought he got scared by a comic book. Lucy's "aren't we friends anymore?" when Michael's all moody. Michael's strained "I'm your brother, Sammy!" when he's stuck outside the window, and that being what convinces Sam to pull him inside, and the way they hug each other on the floor after.

I just!! I have Emotions about that family.

guys I’m cooking with my next Emerson family long post and I just… please please please just consider the parallels of Michael-Lucy being targeted by vampires while Sam is found by vampire hunters. Like— I’m holding your hand and staring into your eyes begging you to consider the implications.

Michael and Lucy being targeted by men who actively want to make them worse, who don’t know about the vampires until it’s too late; both falling into relationships with very muddied consent but still falling anyways because toxic relationships are their norm. Sam on the other hand being told explicitly what is happening, being handed tools and information to protect himself and save his family from being victims; The Frogs giving Sam time to come to terms with everything and make his own choice about what to do. Like yes I think by now people have realized that the vampires are cycle of abuse/toxic relationship but I don’t see anybody talking about how the vampire hunters, the Frog Brothers, are the complete opposite. Literally fucking hand Sam all the information and tools he needs to save his family from being victims again.
