I’ll be fine.’ And with that he was gone, vanishing into the late-afternoon light like a half-remembered dream. Aymeric took a very measured breath, fighting down the urge to scream and possibly chuck that apple core at Estinien’s head. This was going to be harder than he’d thought.

okaaaaaay im a LEETLE biased about this as it was a gift fic for me but! it's so well written. estinien and aymeric are very in character, and their relationship is on point. in fact. im gonna go reread this right now.

Something is off about the Warrior of Light. Their eyes are dark. They haven't smiled all day. They reach for their lance every time the door opens. They look at Haurchefant like he is a ghost. Like this isn't the first time they've done this.

do you like hopeless time loops? do you like stories told from an unsuspecting narrator? do you like desperation? this fic is for you. i don't normally read time loop fics bc time loops aren't a thing in physics BUT this one was just SO GOOD. it grabs you by the heart and just keeps yanking. please give it a read and comment if you liked it!

In the cold. I hate the cold.” He stilled, though his voice still sounded thin when he said, “I wasn’t a soldier. Not yet, for all my fancies. That battle is the one that haunts me.” “You were a child.” Greystone lifted his shoulder carelessly. “And I became a knight. Everyone was very impressed by my performance in that little shack. I am simply glad Francel is still with us.” Bastien shifted uneasily, put in the strange position of opening himself to Greystone. He’d spent almost a full year crafting a firm wall between himself and Greystone’s affections, determined not to lead him on. He exhaled slowly and pressed shaking fingers to the bedside tabletop. “How do you… manage it?”
