NOT DATING BLACK WOMEN IS RACIST AND SEXIST!!!
PLAIN AND SIMPLE!
This May marks eight years since Feminist Frequency’s first video!
We’ve come a long way since Anita first hung up a piece of fabric in her living room and recorded her thoughts about Dollhouse for all the world to see. We’ve all learned a lot since then about doing feminist media analysis and making compelling videos. We just keep this video around to remind us of how far we’ve come – and remind Anita that we’ll never forget how she used to pronounce Joss Whedon’s name wrong. Join us this May, as we cruise through our archives, revisit some of our favorite Tropes vs. Women in Video Games episodes and check out some behind the scenes footage from Ordinary Women: Daring to Defy History. We’ll also give you a preview of our newest online show, which starts to answer the question:
What do representations of gender and race in major motion pictures, hit television series and video games have to do with the current social and political climate?
Our newest videos analyze the connection between popular culture and today’s most pressing social issues – with our characteristic feminist take and charm, of course! Celebrate with us and help us continue for another eight years.
Just because you don't think you're racist doesn't mean you're not racist
If I call you racist, it's because I observed something about you! I'm not just making things up or just hearing things! You're either demonstrating IMPLICIT bias or EXPLICIT bias. Not finding a black person IS racist. Get over it.
New to Tumblr! A bit about me.
