Just finished reading the Hunger games trilogy.

I wanted to capture the book versions, but the film adaptations still have an iron grip on me, so you might see some similarities

Wait, I just realised something. The ‘you don’t even have a dog’ comment is aimed towards Grace as a method of persuading him to go, as well as sort of reminding him how selfish he’s being.

Grace is (self) described as Stratt’s ‘little science lapdog’

He’s her dog. Not just in the sense of, him following her around, but he’s her dog. He’s her tether to the world. The excuse that she has. He’s the one thing that would make someone pause when considering her fate. She didn’t let anyone else get close enough. He was the only one who really saw her as human.

she sent him away, and in doing so, she sent away the only thing left that was stopping the same thing happening to her.

and what about you, Stratt? What about when the world turns on you? He’s your dog, he’s your excuse.

(Caved and got the book, issue being that I personally find the trend of making the cover of books that have been adapted to other media… of said media a little tacky (apologies to Ryan - your performance was out of this world). But not wanting to just rip the cover off, I designed a snug little front cover sleeve. I’m very pleased with how it turned out.) :)
