Going to Swipp, sure hoping it’s not three useless trades!
by talos this can't be happening
This is my first NOTN, and I’ve been celebrating by hatching one egg a day. Hatched this one this morning and within like the first hour of its life, got a message from a kind stranger to warn me not to sell it for cheap. Looking for input on what’s a reasonable price range for it.
Hope everyone’s NOTN is enjoyable!

Holy shit yeah OP do NOT sell that kiddo for cheap. G1 doubles are valuable by default, Obsidian is one of the most popular colors on the site, and a white-range primary? People would kill for this dragon. Dragons like this have an aura of insanity to them that afflicts potential buyers and can make people act a little unhinged. The scries you posted are fantastic and dragons like this have beyond infinite potential, so everyone wants them. I want them. My friends want them. My enemies want them. People who have never played FR want them.
G1 selling is more of an art than a science, but I have a nontrivial amount of experience with FR’s dragon market and FR in general, so hope I might be able to help you out here.
I checked the auction house to see if anyone else was selling XYY obsidian g1s (always what you should do when you get a really goodlooking g1 – do some searches for similar dragons and find out what they were sold for), and there’s currently just one dragon listed for 25,000 gems, and I wouldn’t sell it for a penny less. (also, in general, you’re gonna want to list on the auction house in gems instead of treasure. Gems are usually a more manageable number when working with prices this high, and also the Auction House doesn’t take a cut from gems the way it does with treasure, and that cut can really add up.)
My advice to you is to either keep it forever and spoil it rotten the way it deserves, or auction it on the forums with a ridiculously high starting bid and even more ridiculous autobuy. And you WILL feel ridiculous, trust me, but FR has a handful of people in the stratosphere of wealth compared to most players, and that kind of person loves dragons like this. Make the starting bid in the ballpark of 50,000 gems and the autobuy around 100,000 gems. If someone publicly balks or tries to convince you to lower your prices, they’re probably not acting in good faith and just trying to get a very valuable dragon for a criminally low price. If someone harasses you, god forbid, block and report them.
Auctions for this kind of G1 can get a bit insane, though, fair warning – you could hypothetically hire someone else to do the auction for you, but I’d only do that with a very trusted friend, personally.
Seriously though, do not be afraid to ask for a very big number, much bigger than you’ve probably ever handled on FR before. I’ve historically had really good luck with stating a price I thought was way too high, only for the dragon to sell at that price no questions asked. Like, literally this happened 2 days ago with a g1 far less unique and valuable than the one in question. NOTN is an especially good time to do this; basically everyone’s wallets are overflowing with gems and treasure and the holiday season puts some people (i.e. me) in the mood to spend. Just go with a really, really high starting price and if it sells it sells, and if it doesn’t, that’s no big deal; just relist the dragon on the AH for incrementally lower amounts until it sells or you hit the absolute floor you would not sell that dragon for less; for the sake of simplicity, maybe use the same prices as the starting bid and autobuy I suggested before, listing at the autobuy of 100,000g and gradually (VERY slowly) working your way down.
In any case, do not simply accept the first offer that comes along in your inbox. While FR’s community is generally really cool, one of the reccuring weaknesses I see is people intentionally lowballing new players who don’t know how valuable their dragons, particularly g1s, are. More than one person has been screwed over in bad trades like that in the past, and I’d hate to hear a sad story attached to such a beautiful dragon.
tl;dr: say big numbers. 50,000 gems (GEMS. not treasure. GEMS!) to 100,000 gems. I asked around with some other FR veteran friends and even got suggestions of higher than 100,000g. Maybe you could even do 150kg.
And most of all, remember that this is your dragon in your lair and you do not owe it to anybody. Only you can decide how and for how much to sell them, if you want to sell it at all.
Good luck selling/fighting off the hordes of people begging you to put this dragon in their lairs and have a wonderful rest of your NOTN!

What does buying one of those dragons do. Like what happens. You get to just say you have one? But like you physically dont own anything like an NFT
it's a digital pet game, buying a dragon with in-game currency transfers that dragon's ownership to you and adds it to your current pets and then you can dress it up or breed it or train it for battle or whatever
i buy the nft of the mona lisa and immediately re-dress her in a Lustrous Mantle and sunglasses and start training her as a mire flyer.
my prediction for the new fourth festival item this year is the flight emblem but this time it goes on the dragon’s butt
