his face is trained. it betrays nothing, besides a perceptible determination in regards to carrying out the task which he's endeavoured to at this time. not even registering the weight of which he bears, almost as if were nothing. the captain's mass is distributed across both arms, carrying him briskly through the corridor - slightly barren, though there were a slight bustling of personnel navigating towards either their designated stations, or between points where their immediate presences were required in order to restore ship's primary systems. they are but blurs in his peripheral - unimportant, in relation to the safety of the captain. and as there was no way of presently summoning mccoy to the bridge, he had made the logical decision to carry kirk to sickbay himself. already having made a brief trip between decks within the turbo lift. the condition red light painting their features transitioning between crimson and shadow, cut by the severity of his expression.
all he's allowed himself is that sense of urgency - permeating within his entire body, as the remainder has been presently trained. having had time within the short ride to calm himself, and to re-establish the jilted emotional shield which always buckled like their damaged hull at any mere threat to jim's life. the captain's face deceptively serene as he laid within his arms. and spock had allowed himself to look down at him for too long. his brows having been narrowed, creased with the worry he dare not now show. his fingers having tightened marginally upon his shoulder, before he'd committed himself to steadying his breathing. the lift had malfunctioned a few levels too soon, however, and spock was now heading towards the jefferies tube which would lead him to the correct locale.
he does not even look down as kirk stirs. however there is a slight contracting of his arms as he efforts to keep him tightly locked there, for he was beginning to struggle. he does not have time to answer the captain's primary inquiry, however, before he makes the request that spock had been well aware he'd be condemned to. and one that he cannot fulfill. his jaw tightens a fraction, though he does not slow - nor does he give even an inch to the strength of his hold upon the captain. "the ship's primary systems are, for the most part, nonfunctional. shields are holding, but just barely. however we should not expect another attack, at present. if we can trust our sensor readings, they show only debris from the opposing vessel, and zero life signs." he begins, clinically. knowing the safety of the ship would be of primary concern to jim. "warp engines are down, and we are now running on impulse power. furthermore, all communications are out. but i can assure you, mister scott is exacting repairs..." luckily, the engineer was on the bridge at the time of attack. however, spock is pointedly avoiding the order he proceeds to undermine by his continued movement. his voice having tapered off into a lower tone, now all that betrays any effort he is currently experiencing. "as is lietenant uhura." he continues to deflect, finding it easier to relay all that he has been able to gather from the mere seconds it had taken to lift jim, and divvy out orders while receiving brief pockets of information. his own readings having come in only moments before jim had lost consciousness, with mister chekov taking over in his absence. "i have given mister desalle the conn until further notice, given your temporary incapacity. though i trust you'll find the decision wise. with his recent transfer to the engineering sector, and his exceptional resourcefulness, i expect that he will effectively oversee any and all countermeasures in the meantime." he hopes that this will somewhat ease the captain's mind enough to rescind that order, however he does not allow himself to hope.
"as for returning you to the bridge, i am afraid i cannot do that at this time. you may file a formal reprimand if you must, as that is your prerogative." he begins, "i was unable to contact doctor mccoy, and i found it pertinent to ensure you arrive within sickbay as expeditiously as possible." he raises a brow. "and under starfleet medical regulation, the doctor does have the legal authority to overrule any order, as to protect the health and safety of this crew." with backing from the first officer, certainly.
