"Take Me to Church" criticizes institutions that weaponize morality and power to control people, elevating human love as the true sacred thing. Palpatine embodies exactly that — corrupt authority that manipulates belief, destroys human bonds, and replaces everything with control. The connection is a thematic contrast: Hozier rejects oppressive power in favor of humanity; Palpatine is the living embodiment of that power suppressing humanity.

The mirror represents the tension between Anakin and Vader — the man he was versus the monster he chose to become. Every reflection is a reminder of what he lost.

After Mustafar, mirrors became instruments of torture.

The polished black panels of his meditation chamber sometimes caught his reflection—a glimpse of the mask, the armor, the machinery that kept him alive. He tolerated these moments because they showed what he had become: a weapon, a symbol of the Empire's power.

This is a wonderfully absurd image—Chancellor Palpatine and Anakin Skywalker tearing it up to *“Love in This Club”*—and there isn’t a *canon* answer (thankfully), but there *are* several fun, in-charactw²wer ways to make sense of it. #🕴️

Palpatine masterfully manipulates Anakin Skywalker through calculated psychological tactics: he acts as a cool, worldly confidant to lower Anakin's guard, conditions him to associate Palpatine with pleasure and escape from Jedi restraint, and directly exploits Anakin's deep desire for freedom and connection.
