something about the portrayal of food in phm. amnesiac grace tasting the coffee in the mary and it's exactly how he liked it. rocky being embarrassed by being watched while eating. the astrophage eating the sun. yao and ilyukhina dying giving grace more food. the journey to erid which resulted to grace feasting on taumoebas. grace not being able to eat rocky's food. eva being a history major knowing wars will occur over sustenance. the me burgers™. the taumoeba hunting down the astrophage. life is, indeed, reason.

kinda curious what do you mean by like stratt and grace betrayed eachother in a way?

it's pretty obv with eva. she betrayed grace by sending him to space against his will. i believe her actions to be justified but undeniably cruel and horrible.

now with grace betraying eva in a way. he is practically the number two, the leading scientist in astrophage, and has been by eva's side whenever she makes all those hard decisions. he knows the stake present of humanity perishing if the mission fails. he knows that there's not enough time to train another scientist. he knows that the kids he so loved are going to die of starvation or coldness.

grace 'betrays' eva and the rest of humanity in that sense. he is not just a bystander. he understands the consequences and has the expertise to make the mission succeeds. and yet, he still refuses to answer the call. he chose self-preservation above all else.

from eva's perspective, grace would make her force her hand, instead of volunteering himself. that eva is once again put in a fucking dilemma (like nuking antartica and paving the sahara) but those situations differ. this is the person that she knows and trusts. but she's going to look at him straight in the eye and tell him to go on a suicide mission. doesn't she carry enough sins already? why can't grace carry some of the burden from her? a part of her prob hoped that grace can accept the responsibility of saving earth. but no. grace entered that room babbling about his kids needing him when they're all going to die anyway. she knows him to be a coward and that's what angered her. he fails to be the person eva wanted him to be. someone brave enough to sacrifice himself for humanity's only chance of survival.

(anyway, this is just my opinion while reading the book first before the movie. im not saying eva is right or wrong. and many of us would be like grace in this kind of situation. it's what makes their dynamics so interesting)

im actually laughing over the fact that we got a sabo appearance first before an ace appearance in the live action. ace is not outright mentioned but discussed over. meanwhile sabo's just standing there. menacingly. wondering who tf is that kid his boss just saved.

the way maekar said it is just heartbreaking. daeron is a drunkard almost driven mad by his dreams, aerion is a lost cause, and aemon is sent away to the citadel despite his objections.

aegon is his last chance at fatherhood. but in the end, he too is lost to him. despite their flaws, maekar truly loves his sons.

an interesting parallel i noticed between dragon and ace is that dragon achieved ace’s dream— to have his name known by the world, surpassing even his father’s.

they both rebelled against their blood but it is only dragon who succeeded. history will see him as dragon the revolutionary and not as dragon garp the hero’s son. while ace never truly escaped roger’s legacy. he died for the crime of being the pirate king’s son and will be forever branded as such.
