Last lap - Exam preparation tips
So my exams start in two days so I decided to make this ^_^ I’m on a 15 minute break right now so I’ll make it quick!!
Do Practice/Past Papers. This is extremely important. It is the most important thing to do when preparing for an exams. Also doing lots of exercises on weak topics can be really helpful.
Ask your teachers/friends. This is your last chance. If you don’t know how to do a particular question, or think you don’t fully grasp a concept, please ask. Teachers (most, at least) want to see you succeed! And good friends should too. Also, if you lost sections of your notes/practice papers/pages came out of your book, ask your friends to take pictures!!! (Personally I have a very very very helpful deskmate who has done this many many times for me because I lose things so easily :/)
Make exam version notes/mindmaps. (Do this if you still have at least a day, preferably 2, left. If it’s the night before, you’re better off just doing practice papers and revision questions.) Even if you’ve already made notes on the topic before, try to redo them in an even more concise manner, and include tips - mnemonics, little cheats on how to solve problems - for yourself! I’ve found it helpful to write down steps to solve problems for physics topics which I’m weak in!
Ask your friends to quiz you/try teaching your friends concepts. It’s all too easy to think you know a topic, until you get quizzed under pressure, or are asked to explain a concept concisely. This will make sure you know your content inside out! Make sure to return the favour!
Take care of yourself. Sleep early, wake up early. Aim for at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Keep hydrated. Eat healthily and regularly, but it’s okay to indulge a little! Don’t get sick!
studyblr follow chain!!
reblog if ur a studyblr/appblr/etc and i’ll check ur blog out! :)

memorization tips!
use mnemonics! this is what i’ve been using to learn vocabulary since day 1, it makes language learning so much more fun + easier. here is a good explanation of what mnemonics do.
use a spaced repetition system like anki which has been proven to basically be the best way to learn vocabulary for a second/third language!!
here’s a super useful introduction to different memory techniques!
make a schedule - memorizing something once won’t make it stick, you have to commit to revision
if you decide not to use anki/other spaced repetition software, set time-based targets for what you want to achieve!
+ flashcards insp if you want to make flashcards
@studyign‘s amazing alternative to flashcards method that works miracles for anything to do with memorization
study tips:
set a target of at least 5 mins a day either reviewing past content or learning something simple with some of the apps listed above!
keep a “messy tips book” to note down any interesting information you come across on your language-learning journey/any questions you want to ask + write the answers down to later!
keep a “grammar book” - add to this as you go and it will probably help you a lot later on for revision and reference!
a phrasebook MAY be a worthy investment if you are ready to commit to actively learning from the book and make sure you’re not going to buy it to just let it sit there and collect dust
stick to one course/book at a time. there is a huge temptation to start 43 different courses at once, but this distracts you from focusing on completing + mastering the content!
immerse yourself in the language by getting into that culture’s tv shows, music, etc. you’ll probably pick stuff up along the way!
motivation for when the going gets tough:
think about being able to watch tv shows in the language without subs
have secret convos with your language friends
be able to travel to that country and get around no problem
imagine being mistaken for a native speaker!!
10 benefits of learning another language
being able to say “i self-learned ____!”
learning more languages opens up a lot more career options + makes you more in demand in the workplace!
i really hope this helped you guys! wishing you all the best in your language-learning endeavours :^)

I have an A- in english!!!! :))))
school is starting again!
september studyblr rollcall! reblog if you’re an active stubyblr so that we can all follow each other and get motivated to do well this academic year!!
!! This app is a studyblr must!! It’s another productivity-timing app, but it has all the features I’ve been looking for: 1. Like Forest for android or FocusNow or iPhone, it’s an app that prevents you from playing with your phone while you study…….. Except here’s the thing: the counter only goes when the phone is facing down so it removes all temptations of even lifting up your phone
2. Themes: this app has the feature called themes, so you can measure how much time was spent on each activity. the theme is also 100% customizable. I set each theme as the name of the course I’m taking this semester so I can see if I’m lagging behind on any of the subjects
3. Weekly goals: need to spend about 20 hours on physics this week? You can se the weekly goal on the settings (again, by theme).
I’ve just been introduced to this and I already love it! The name is “Focus Timer: beyond pomodoro” and it’s on the AppStore! I’m not sure about the playstore though. But for my friends who use an iPhone or iPad, this is such a great app!
Happy studying, everyone!
