Finally getting around to organizing my blog😅

Hello! Y’all can call me Critter, and Welcome! To the only active "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" fan blog (though there's a lovely little cluster of fans on here and I love them all.) You can also find me on AO3 under the same @ and Instagram/Tiktok under steampunkh0bo, though I'm much less active. I reblog other stuff from time to time, but really only ever post about OBWAT (and honestly most of my reblogs are connected too. If there is an OBWAT post I WILL find it.)

I ship Delmar and Pete and that's a lot of what I post about. I don't have a specific tag for them and a lot of it is implied, anyway, so. Just know that's what you're in for.

Saying stuff (OBWAT or otherwise) is #critter sez. If it's vague enough I don't always tag it for OBWAT so it won't junk up the actual tag- my thought process, updates on how a fic is going, that kind of thing. If this post doesn't make it obvious, I'm a big big rambler.

Any art = #obwat art- I don't currently draw, so there isn't too much from me on there, but there's plenty of wonderful art from others that deserves to be seen. A lot of it is commissions, and those'll be (additionally) #stuff I've commissioned.

Dumb photo edits and memes go under #obwat memes, video edits, fancams, and clip reels go under #obwat edits, headcanons and musings I can't make into fics go under #obwat headcanons (until I find a better tag lmao.) My fics go under #my fics. You get the idea. Also have #obwat observations for bits in the movie that made me go 👀 There are a lot! NSFW/suggestive stuff (in regards OBWAT ofc) posted on occasion.

The posts I've made that I like the best go under #good ones. A lot of those don't fit under many of the above tags, as broad as I've made them, and I very recommend going through it if you're stupid for this movie. Take it as a starter pack or as an "in case you missed it."

Suggestions for OBWAT/Delmar and Pete fics will always be welcome. I'm sure I'll have no trouble on my own but I want to be writing about them for a long time.

Also have a Delmar and Pete playlist. Continually gets updated and I'll always take suggestions there too. Generally anything to do with this movie is welcome this way lmao

Oh, great idea Wade. Cause correcting Dusty went sooooo well last time 🙄 I see your tags about making Wade too friendly/nice, but it’s shit like that, that desire to correct people and him being naturally standoffish, that I think it works perfectly. And you see him with that Kavalry lady/in the support group- he’s, well, supportive. And in both situations, he’s super deflective, trying to shift focus back to the other person…I see him doing that here. And he sees how Dusty communicates through jokes, so he’s matching that. Mirror man <3

this is plain stupid but i thought youd enjoy it the most as the other resident wade lover and wade shipper-- ive keep daydreaming of wade accidentally just grabbing a random shirt when hes late for work on a rare occasion and forgot to put his alarm on and accidentally grabs one of dusty's bullshit shirts (theres one i visibly see where its a "i just got laid!" wth a baby croc hatching. its a real shirt from one of those old magazines where you could buy a shirt for like 2 bucks! i should find it) and goes to work confidently in it with his button up shirt haphazardly buttoned over it with his jacket. long winded to get to the point-- what the hell silly shirts do you think wade might pick up from cecil? i cant remember if you said he'd wear goofy shirts and i was gonna say maybe hats, but wade might not ever put on another hat that his Tornado's one frm the reflectatine in it....(unless he gets weaned off of not needing his brain protected?) lotsa thoughts... plus i just want to see what shirts you come up with to humiliate poor wade. thank god his mask is covering his face ik he's beet red under that thang

Oh my god this is so good…I have so many thoughts. This is also such a fun way to expand on Cecil a little more…like I think he has a bunch of those shirts the Red Cross gives you when you donate blood, a couple years worth, but like most people, he was smaller when he was younger, and between that and the weight Wade’s been putting on, they’re riding up like crazy. If he was in high school he’d get dress coded. They’re cool old shirts though! Wade’s never donated blood in his life, by the way. He doesn’t want *them* to have his DNA.

I also really like the idea of him wearing shirts that are flirty or say some shit about being a stud and not realizing until somebody teases him about it…Cecil calling him a dirty old man and watching him get flustered <3 really, he’s just happy to see Wade even *accidentally* show some confidence. Laurie please please please don’t call HR.

I do think Cecil has some reservations about working with cops (we’ll get into that) and he’s also (almost) a millennial and would have a stupid sense of humor, so. I think it’d be funny to have Wade wear these in to his GOVERNMENT JOB. Cecil’s getting in trouble….

I also have a handful of shirts n hats on Wade’s Pinterest board that I like to imagine Cecil would get for him or just plain make him laugh. Angela likes them too, cause she can laugh about how much of an old man he is.

And I HAVE hit the photo limit and this IS off topic, but since Wade canonically wears wife beaters, I would like you all to think about him leveling up and getting some muscle shirts please and thank you. Don’t drool too much.

(More pancake posting…I can’t stop)

Thinking about Pete just absolutely not playing about Sunday breakfast. Waking up with the sun (like Delmar’s SUPPOSED to do) before anybody else is up so they can wake up to the smell of bacon, making a bigass pancake spread- ones with blueberries from Delmar’s garden, ones with chocolate chips for Miracle (but she has to eat a serving of fruit too), and plain ones for him, he just likes a little butter and syrup. Them all napping together on the couch together after breakfast because they’re so full and Pete’s been up since early…they never make it to church 😭

Still on this…do y’all think Wade does his injections in his belly or his thighs 🤔 Injections in the belly means he’d have more stomach hair and a fuller happy trail 🤤(localized hair growth) but if it’s his thighs then you get to imagine him sitting there in just his boxers…Cecil how r you gonna keep your hands steady with the needle with a view like that!!

Wade doing his intramuscularly even though it causes him pain because he thinks that's just the way it has to be, and Cecil showing him how to do it subcutaneously so it doesn't hurt...you never had to live this way Wade </3 he's probably been injecting it in the same spot/leg for however long and built up a mess of scar tissue...doesn't even care to use the sterilizing wipes he's just going for it...Cecil doesn't understand how that man has survived so long.
