When she finally recognized the brunette beauty in front of her, Solaris allowed her signature smirk to grace her face as the knight steered her mare closer to her. Gently letting out a hum of approval as she circled the woman to inspect her appearance. “Lady Elenei. You seem to be in good health and spirits.” Her velvet voice spoke cooly before she stepped down from her mare to hug her long lost friend. Since Elenei marriage, Solaris had kept to herself- far from others in fact. Unlike the beauty in front of her, Solaris was the anti-social of the two. A knight with a stoic expression-who kept to herself most of the time. It was small surprise that she could even befriend the woman in front of her. 

“It has been quite some time since i’ve heard from you. How is the marriage and child?”

“Or perhaps I’ve missed my calling as a mummer,” Elenei quipped. As soon as Solaris’ feet hit the ground, she had opened her arms, welcoming her into a hug. This was why she had came here - to reconnect with those dearest to her, to get back in touch with who she once was. There was a lot to be learned from that version of Elenei, after all. She never would have let decisions be made for her the way she was now if they had happened back then. 

Her face fell just slightly, the cracks appearing in the edges of the mask she wore. She should have expected that not everyone would know of her fate. “My husband passed away three years past, now. My son remains in Lys, against my wishes, and I am back in The Stormlands - also against my will.” She spoke quickly, as though ripping off something sticky that had adhered to her skin. “But what of you? How fares Dorne?”

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞 &–– ANYONE

Jasper Arryn of the Vale isn’t feeling at all as loquacious as the luncheon permits. day seven of the festivities, he assumes, is meant for pursuing important conversations and advantageous propositions between kingdoms. the smell of florals spiraling the air to intermingle with sweet bread spoils his appetite for such exchanges. looming symptoms of rhinitis threatens to further pollute his time in the gardens with an unblessed blight. a kerchief crumbled in his palm provides aid as he overlooks the shrubbery and other elegant foundations. 

though it may further ruin his reputation, he prefers to walk the gardens alone, unbothered, and with a sense of peace in the air of which he finds hard to breathe. watery eyes attempt to hide cascading dark circles due to the natural allergens in the atmosphere. he regrets his choices in gracing the gardens with his presence at all. he didn’t think it would be the case– that he’d grow homesick of The Eyrie so soon. the weather is far different than what he is used to, and traveling for the man has become more and more of a nuisance. 

he holds his complaints well, with a sharp grin to suggest his attitude is the opposite of how he feels. nobility, civility, and poise is something he feels he has to carry on his own weighted shoulders. the ever ungracious offspring of his would know nothing of the burdens he carries. the lectures and riddles he speaks in their presence, he fears, are wasted on ignorance and disrespect.  and despite hating conversations involving the pair of sons, he assumes the approach is because of them. “I do believe the younger Lord Arryns are around here somewhere– they’d be delighted to engage in any discourse you bring fourth.“ he dabs at the corner of his runny nose, attempting to change the subject so soon. a sniffle is hard to hide, given his allergies. “How are the pastries? Are they as sweet as I remember?”

It was usually the ocean that Elenei sought out to soothe her soul, a balm for all the stresses that rested upon once-light shoulders. Whether the tranquil, blue-green waters of Lys, or the inky black depths of The Stormlands, the water was the water, and it calmed her. In King’s Landing, the waters of The Blackwater Rush were more akin to sludge, a dirty greyish brown that stunk of filth. It wasn’t by any stretch of the imagination pleasant, and so, she had to seek other remedies for the anxiety that was becoming all too common. 

And so, she was in the gardens. She’d never paid much heed to greenery - though there was far more of it in Lys’ fertile lands than in her place of birth, the ocean had always been there to welcome her, and so she had ignored it. Today, though, it was warm and sunny, and full of people with which to talk to, to break bread and laugh and for a moment, forget that she was no longer a girl of eighteen without a care in the world. 

One such person she was eager to connect with was Lord Arryn. She knew he would be in attendance, but had not yet had a chance to speak with him. The months she spent at the Eyrie seemed so long ago, but her fondness for their Lord had yet to wane. He called out as she approached, and she responded with a short, warm laugh. He had not changed very much in the intervening years. 

“Actually, it is your discourse I seek, my Lord. Though I can come back at a time that suits better, if you wish?” She let the offering hang in the air, eyebrows quirked politely in question. “More so, I would say. I took one bite and my teeth starting to ache.” Her eyes raked his appearance, noting the running of his eyes and nose. “But it is hot, isn’t it? I fear I might faint out here for much longer. Will you accompany me inside to the shade?” Elenei had never fainted in her life, but clearly the garden was doing little for either of them.

Elenei had spent just three short years in Lys - not long enough, given that her son remained there, kept so far from his mother. Though her time there had been brief, it was enough to know that the Lysene wares on the table before her were naught but false copies. Stocked with perfumes and oils, no Lyseni would be caught dead wearing such a scent - decidedly Westerosi in origin. Elenei let out a derisive sigh, placing the bottle she had been examining back on the table and turning to her companion. 

“A waste of our time,” she declared. “I have plenty of true Lysene perfumes back at the keep. There truly is no comparing. I must make you a gift of a bottle - do not let me forget, My Lady!”

Closed Starter for @celiaxtully​ Timestamp: Day 5 of the Festivities Location: The Throne Room 

To say Elenei was a little tipsy was an understatement - the wine was flowing freely, and she had reached a pleasant state of inebriated. She felt comfortably mellow, the weight of her problems finally disappearing for the first time in a long time. She wanted to dance and laugh, to kick off her shoes and let down her hair and run through the halls of The Red Keep as though The Black Dread itself was on her heels. 

Fortunately, she still had enough about her to recognise that would probably not be the best display for the Baratheons - and with so much turmoil at home, this was perhaps the only chance to leave a good impression on the rest of Westeros. Intent on finding a seat, Elenei spun around. As she did, her elbow caught on a nearby lady, jostling her arm and sending the Dornish red inside slopping down her gown - at least it was black, the colour of her house. 

“I’m sorry,” she shot the other an apologetic look, raking her eyes over them to make sure none of the contents got on her own garb. “I think I’ll take this as a sign that I’ve had quite enough.”

Closed Starter for @gildedheirs​ (Quentin Tyrell) Time Stamp: Early on the eighth day of the festivities Location: The jousting grounds

There was a sense of anticipation and excitement in the heir that Elenei hadn’t felt since she was a girl. It had been a long time since she had seen a joust, and even longer since she had participated in one. She had thought about doing so today, about jumping on the back of once of the horses brought from Storm’s End and competing herself. She was a small target, and difficult to unseat on horseback, but while the idea seemed therapeutic, she swiftly abandoned the idea. Right now, there was too much to be lost should she fall, and so, she sulkily resigned herself to watching for the day. 

 If she had been in a bad mood, however, that evaporated at the sight of Quentin Tyrell. Here was somebody who was dear to her, who’s chaos was akin with her own (despite the fact she had mellowed dramatically since the day she was put on a ship to Lys). 

“Highgarden has graced us with the best of their flowers, I see,” she called out, her tone jovial and teasing, but her expression full of warmth. “And a good thing, too. I was worried that I might be bored.”
