“I’m a foodie in every lifetime, and junk food has never been more readily available than this era. It’s beautiful.” Carter told him with a small chuckle as he dug happily into his pancakes. “Props to the chef.” He groaned around a mouthful of it.
“Would certainly make things easier, hold down jobs, relationships, maybe even a pet around it all. I miss having a cat, but I wouldn’t want one around Mick’s rat just in case.” He noted with a small chuckle. “Once a Legend always a Legend, even with one of this little badges on.” Carter agreed with a small nod. “But it might be an idea to get some info from them all the same. We still have some loose ends to tie up and much as I hate to admit, they might be able to help.”
“Beautiful until you get an invoice from the dentist who fixes all the cavities in your teeth caused by the junk food.” Nate responded dryly, the smirk on his lips said he wasn’t too worried about that though. “Thanks buddy.” He saluted the compliment with a forkful of his own pancakes before shoveling it in his mouth.
Nate didn’t miss the emphasis on the way Carter said relationships, wondering what that was about or if it was rude to pry. “You’re a step ahead than the rest of us in one area though. I mean, aren’t you and Kendra...?” He trailed off, leaving space for Carter to fill in the blank.
“Amaya has cats.” He injected after Carter said he missed having one. “As far as I know Mick’s rat is safe. She does have an advantage with her totem in communicating with them and getting them to behave. Maybe she’d be able to help you find a cat that won’t attack the rat.”
With a soft sigh Nate nodded, finding himself agreeing that the Bureau were good allies. It was just the familial bond of his father running the Bureau that made things more difficult for Nate. “It’d be better if someone other than Hank was running things.” He grumbled low, casting a despondent look toward Carter. “Although I’m probably preaching to the choir. After all, wasn’t your old man a ruler of a country? Did he ever make life difficult?”
