無制限の:: Goldenweek sat back in her chair, a canvas on her lap at which she looked in disgust before tossing it to the side.

“I’m completely out of blue paint,” she murmured in despair, looking down at the pitifully small colour palette on her lap. The only colours on it to be seen were blue, red, black, and white.

Stefan spied the girl surrounded by the smell of paint. He came up to her chair, intrigued, and promptly stuck his nose in one of the grey paints (They were all grey).

He snuffled, to stop the paint going up his nostrils.

Let me tell you a tale...

Last year, the night before my birthday, a terrible beast entered my room. It was small and brown and full of sharp edges. It buzzed ominously. I didn’t know what it was, and when I tried to turn off the lights to coax it out of my room and into the hallway, instead of taking the bait, it took a nose-dive into the darkest corner of my room, and finding it was an impossible task. I braved it, however, and went to bed. I felt something crawling on my chest. And suddenly, out from the duvet, was the beast. I screamed and panicked and tried to shove it away, fleeing my room as quickly as possible. The beast continued to evade me, and eventually, too fearful of it to continue staying in my room, I left to sleep downstairs.

That thing, that mysterious beast, haunted my thoughts for a whole year. I hadn’t any idea what it was, and that made it all the scarier.

Fast forward to next summer; 350 days after the previous encounter. My mother and I, watching television late one evening, when something mysterious and buzzing around the lights. I used my laptop as a shield. It was a necessary sacrifice, though it ended up unnecessary. As my mother went to dispose of it, it landed on her chest. She squashed it and the danger was over.

But no, it was far from over. It had only just begun. the smell. The STENCH. It perminated her shirt, her hands, the washcloth she so vainly scrubbed at it with. But it was too late, her allergies were acting up, the smell was everywhere. The beast, we now knew, had a name.

Stinkbug.

Stefan came bounding up the tail of the (very very) large mermaid, scrabbling over her torso and up to her face, where he craned his neck as far as it would go, and gave the large lady a slobbery wet doggy kiss on the cheek.

The large mermaid was surprised at the dog scrambling up her body before giving her a slobbery dog kiss. She giggles. “Oh? W-who are you?”

"O-oh! W-would you like me to bring you there…?" The mermaid smiles happily when the dog pointed towards (or near) the harbor. She loved the fancy ships that come and go. She wanted to see what was in stock this time.

Stefan - dog as he was - had no idea what she just said. But it sounded like she wanted to go on walkies. And Stefan was always ready for walkies, so he slid off her and started racing around in an excited circle.

Flopping bonelessly where he stood, Stefan enjoyed the attention as he yawned and turned his head towards the place where the ship had landed (or, he was pretty sure that was where it was).

Skidding back down to the fishy part of the lady, Stefan started to sniff around her tail with interest. It smelled like dinner but it was part of the lady. Stefan had met fishmen before, which smelled like this, so maybe she was the same. Deduction made, he pattered up and down the tail before testing her stomach to climb on.

"Seems you’re happy to see me," Thatch laughed, sitting cross-legged on the floor before patting his lap. 

"C’mere!" He put his hands on either side of Stefan’s head and ruffled the fur there. Playing with Stefan was always soothing to him.

Stefan obediently hopped onto Thatch's lap and stayed still for a few minutes, shutting his eyes and enjoying the attention. That was the best way to be petted, for sure. After a moment, though, he flopped and started to wriggle onto his back to expose his belly to be rubbed, but after a moment changed his mind, ending up doing a full roll on Thatch's lap before hopping up and trying to climb his torso and sticking his wet nose under Thatch's chin.
