(E)Stela Fisher. 23.
Fortune teller
&
Philosophy student.
The community's cook.
Itβs summer,
which means my skin is all honey before noon.
Which means Iβm celebrating the anniversaries of lovers I never kissed,
and bodies I never loved.
Which means the air is humid as an open mouth with all this wanting.
He grinned back at her, just happy to see the smile back on her face.Β βIβm always down for your seance.β Despite how he wasnβt quite sure that ghosts and such exist, he knew that Stela did and he was just down with whatever she was β unless it was illegal.Β βYeah you are right. Maybe weβll make friends of the dead. Pinky promise.β He held up his pinky for her.Β
βThis is why youβre my favourite person,β she replied, playfully brushing her shoulder against his.Β βYou always go along with my... weirdness? Is it that weird?β She linked her pinky with his, smiling once more.Β βSounds like a plan to me. Any dead person would be lucky to have you as a friend.β Stela paused for a moment,Β βYouβre okay though, right?β
Β Β Β Β Β Β β oh boy, do i. that was so ridiculous, i mean - only because i remember all the guys making it out to be some kind of joke. it was awful and suzy paxtin was so upset when she pulled out the WITS and they DUNKED on her. god β the jock stereotype is the worst. hey, β the girl tightens her hand around stelaβs, feeling the soft skin under her smooth fingers. hopefully the skin contact had been putting her at ease.Β β youβre dang right we are, itβs a virus - weβve been through the plague, this is nothing compared to that. uh β i do, yeah. i really really hope we will be. yeah!! my dadβs got stuff stored up at the ranch, we can make our way through town real quick and stay there if you want. stock up on stuff here, we go to micahβs house and grab him and then we camp out at my dadβs until we get news on the whole thing blowing over. β
Β Β Β Β Β βI guess they think that it was crucial to our time at school. Someoneβs trying to tease you? WALK AWAY! More like retaliate, am I right? She was, god, and she was such a sweet girl. She deserved so much better.β She laughed quietly, reminiscing. Out of everybody, Melisssa was always best at calming her down. She laid her head on her shoulder for a moment.Β βGood point, although I hope no one actually, you know, dies. But our scientists are better now -- hell, we actually have them now -- theyβll figure out a cure soon. Thatβll be great! We can get Xanos, too. Heβll probably like that, and dad. We canβt leave dad behind. We can like... build a campfire or something?β
Β Β Β Β Β βI donβt really do running. Itβs not really my thing, but you are more then welcome to raid my booze cabinet.β She said gesturing to the cabinet as she sat down on the couch.Β βThings are going to work themselves out in the end.β
Β Β Β Β Β βThatβs good enough for me. Why donβt you run though? If you donβt mind me asking. I think, for me, Iβd rather flee than fight.β She stood from the couch and took out a bottle of whiskey. Collapsing beside her, she continued,Β βYouβre right though. Nothing is ever hopeless.β
Β Β Β Β βWhy not do both?? Iβve got the alcohol, we have running shoes and we can spend our time cursing the bloody government for doing this to us. I think that would perhaps be the best way to spend our last days on earth if this is really the end.β Β
Β Β Β Β βBecause I didnβt have any alcohol at home. But I am wearing flats today, so you got yourself a plan, bud. Curse number one: how dare they hurt the public? I always knew that they were corrupt, and Bush definitely did 9/11, but...β Stela trailed off, sighing.Β βIβm Stela, by the way.β
βI have a feeling you might already know what Iβm thinking. But Iβll give you a small hint - weβre not doomed, Stela. Not to diminish the severity of the situation, but no matter what anyone says, itβs not the end of the world just yet. As for those optionsβ¦ perhaps a drink first, and a little preparation before either of us goes running into the mountains,βΒ
βIβm only a psychic by day, dad.β She said teasingly, a small smile lighting her features. It was an attempt to lighten the heavy mood around them.Β βOf course weβre not doomed, but I also donβt want us or anyone else to be in danger. I feel like I canβt do anything to help, you know? That sounds good to me though. We can get some extra groceries?β
jett squinted at the otherβtongue sticking out of the corner of zir mouth, a look that wouldβve been cute under different circumstances. ze didnβt know what anyone was talking about today. was it really that new?
βitβs not the government.β
Stelaβs head tilted at her, curiosity filling her expression. If it wasnβt the government, what did ze think it was? Her best guess was aliens or something else paranormal, but she didnβt want to voice that thought to a stranger so soon.Β βThen what is it?β
Β Β Β Β Β Β β why is your first instinct to always run?? i donβt β i donβt KNOW what i think. i think iβm terrified. β- what are we supposed to do, stels?? are they going to fix this?? i think we should stay inside, itβs already crazy enough out there - the last thing we need is one of us getting hurt. β
Β Β Β Β Β βI blame the WITS program from school. Remember that? Walk away, ignore, talk about it, seek help. So I want to walk away. Well, run away in this case. The KILLERS donβt seem to like being ignored or want to talk, and our help... I donβt know where they are. Regrouping, I think.β Her voice quivered, and her hand reached for Melissaβs.Β βBut I think theyβll fix it. I have FAITH in us. Weβre humans, weβre adaptable, we function as one when we need to. Weβll be okay. Donβt you think? And yeah, weβll stay inside. Weβll... find food and water at home? I have some canned beans and water bottles.β
βWhat are they avenging? Healthcare rights? Racism against the dead?β He was trying to lighten the mood - maybe see a smile on her face.Β βHey, come on Stel. Thatβs not going to happen. Youβre going to be fine - we both are.β
A small smile crossed Stelaβs face and she snickered. βMaybe we should do a seance and find out, huh?β She nudged him playfully, attempting to replicate their usual banter.Β βIf we stop ignoring them, they may get a little friendlier. You promise?β
βLook, I know there are someβ¦.worrying things going on in the news, but Iβm sure itβs nothing we canβt handle. To assume the world is going to end just because some crazy people is just ridiculous. Isnβt there any hope in our leaders?β
βWell, our cities leader got cannibalized and butchered on public TV. So I donβt know who the fuck weβre supposed to be turning to. Maybe we should try contacting the FBI or the president? But...β Stela trailed off, sighing.Β βBut I believe it because thereβs nothing else to believe. Itβs the only answer weβve got. I just donβt think itβs hopeless. Weβll make it. We always have.β
βI donβt know how much I believe this whole news nonsenseβ¦β He had long made sure his own mother wasnβt listening to all the nonsense. The world has been here long enough and it wasnβt going to end anytime soon - least thatβs what Sebastian believes.Β βIf the world were to end, it wouldnβt be from the dead. Thatβs just insane. Pure insanity.β
βThe dead come back with a vengeance, Seb. It makes perfect sense to me. They feel forgotten and abandoned, they come back, we die. Then weβll all be unified!β Her tone was disbelieving, a slight frantic edge to it.Β βBut I donβt want to die. I wonβt.β
Β Β Β Β Β βLook, normally this would be the part where I have some brilliant theory about whatβs REALLY going on here. Like aliens, government conspiracy -- seriously, theyβre always behind this shit -- but for once, I got nothing. The undead are walking, weβre all doomed, and for once in my life, all I want is a cold, strong drink. Or to run into the mountains. Either or. What do YOU think?β
this is your local loser ali with another character. as always, if you want to plot, like this or shoot me a message!
STATS | PLOTS
stela was born to a young christian couple. they were only 16 at the time, and because of their religion, they never learned about protected sex. they ended up giving her up, and in a letter her biological mom sent with her, it was the hardest thing that sheβd ever done.
growing up in the system was never easy, but stela always made the best of it. as a child, she made friends wherever she went, inventing imaginative games and asking all of the kids to play.
she had hope until the caretakers informed her that at 7, she was too old to be adopted. it was some kind of miracle when the fisherβs walked in, she approached them, and somehow they fell in love with her. ramona and aiden fisher were a dream to stela.
life for the three of them was never perfect. stela had a temper on her, as she always had, but fights were few and far between. everyday she was grateful for her parents and showed it through drawings and crafts.
the older that she got, the more adventurous stela became. before long, she was skipping out of school in order to search the arizona area, hopping on buses with friends to aimless destinations, and getting into trouble as she scoured the city, talking to strangers.
Β everything changed for stela when her mother died. she already had a weakened immune system after a bout of influenza, and she couldnβt make it through. after a stay in the hospital, she died days before they planned on releasing her.
because family meant so much to her, she never acted out. she tried to support her father and keep her outgoing, imaginative personality. she relied heavily on her friends and boyfriend, visiting him in florida.
while she grieved, she picked up many, many hobbies. she started sketching more, finding a release in it. she started reading tarot cards and researching astronomy and the spirit realm. philosophy became her first love, however, and she ended up going to university to major in it.
sheβs currently attending college and working as a fortune teller so she can pay for her schooling costs!!
stelaβs taken after her father in certain ways, particularly with her compassionate side. sheβs idealistic, believes the best in the world, and outgoing. sheβs dedicated her entire life to her mom, since her life was cut short and is still the same adventurous girl with a zest for life and the metaphysical.
that being said, stela does have a short temper and when she sees injustice, sheβs ready to go in kicking and screaming. she has a steely will and nothing can budge her when sheβs set her mind on something. sheβs also a tad naive.Β
