I swear too many of the Nesta haters always over exaggerate things she’s done so they can get back at “their Nesta”.

Do you ever think about young Tam running around the Spring Court, golden curls gently moving with the breeze as he picked daffodils, before the cruel reality of life in the Spring Court caught up with him?

Young Nesta dressing up as a ballerina and playing pretend, before the teachings of her mother and grandmother were cemented in her mind through abuse?

Young Azriel, trying to soak up every glimpse of the sun and the warmth of his mother's hugs in the hour he was allowed to be out of the cell in his father's keep, before his job turned out to be working in the shadows and torturing others?

Young Andras meeting Tamlin for the first time, not knowing that silly blond kid playing the fiddle will be the one sending him to his death, in the hopes of saving their people from a fate worse than death?

It's so weird to me that people say Nesta was in "rehab".

What rehab tells you a couple weeks in that your sister is going to die? Especially right after your authority figure (who also has sex with you) says you're so emotionally unstable that he deems you "volatile"?

It’s so funny how Rhys looks like a bad person through:

Imagine labeling a character an "irredeemable abuser", going as far as name calling other readers simply because they point out the nuance behind that character's actions, and in the same breath say that the character who SAd the FMC in the first book, and continues to manipulate and isolate her as the story goes on, is the "better man"...

Most readers point out Lucien's rakish charm and personality from book one as the reason they love him, but honestly his resilience even when he's gone through hell is so important to me.

He grew up on an abusive household, had to watch his girlfriend be killed by his brothers, left his court, had his eye plucked out by Amarantha, was used during Feyre's trials on UTM, watched her be tortured and killed, witnessed his best friend lose himself and become controlling in the aftermath of UTM, was SAd by Ianthe, left the second court he considered home. In the NC he is treated mostly as an asset, another pawn to be used, and even when he seems to cling to the hope that Feyre still has his best interest in mind, she stopped being his friend a long time ago.

Other characters would've turned into villains for way less, but even when left with nothing but the clothes on his back, with little to no time to process everything that happened, he refuses to give up.

As of the end of SF, his only support system seems to be Jurian and Vassa.

His mate cannot stand being in the same room as him but haven't refused the bond. His relationship with LoA and Eris seem too complex and remain mostly a mystery to us readers, and it would require a ton of effort from both parties to salvage whatever is left of his friendship with Tamlin.

I just want him to be happy and appreciated at least once.

Have we considered that Mor’s power is not truth, but charmspeak, meaning she can get people to believe whatever she wants them to?

And that’s also why Azriel and Cassian have been so preoccupied with her for years?

And Nesta is immune to her charmspeak as she is immune to glamours which is why Mor can’t stand her?

This may even be the secret Eris knows about her…

My utmost respect to every Solas girlie that has been in Solavellan hell for the past 10 years, because I've been in the DA fandom for only a month and the chokehold this egg has on me is unreal

As much as I'm critical of some of the Archeron sisters, as a woman there's nothing I wish more for them than true happiness and freedom.

A future traveling the world as they dreamed, unshackled from abusive and manipulative men, getting to finally control the reigns of their lives.

I don't see a future where Feyre would be her best self next to a man that SAd her, who never apologizes, and controls her life to the point of hiding detrimental medical information.

Nesta will never know real happiness next to a man that had to break her in order to deem her worthy of love.

Elain will never be seen as anything more than a mindless child, and possible tool to be used, as long as she remains in the Night Court.

Right now they're just very young women next to 500+ yo emotionally stunted men. They deserve the chance to live up to their potential.

People love to bring up the fact that Nesta was her mother's "favorite" when defending Feyre, but every time they conveniently fail to acknowledge the abuse behind that "favoritism"...

With all the abuse discourse in this fandom, I wonder if people are wittingly ignorant of the fact that there is a distinction between being toxic and a toxic person; being abusive and an abuser. 

Under the right circumstances and with the right incentive, anyone can become destructive. Every one of us has toxicity, which we may or may not be aware of. I can preach about treating others with respect, dignity, and grace all day long and still turn toxic when someone provokes my unhealed parts. That doesn’t make me a completely unhealthy person per se; rather I am in an environment or in touch with someone who brings this out in me.

The same applies to abusive tendencies too—the most common are verbal/emotional/psychological—which go completely undetected or unacknowledged unless they turn into physical. Does that make us all an abuser? If we cross off everyone who exhibits the slightest of these tendencies as an evil person, no one would fit our bill.

There are nuances to this and it’s not black and white. I guess it depends on what the person is willing to do next. One being hurtful or abusive for a brief moment will feel remorse and probably try to right their act. But a toxic person or an abuser thrives on the negativity they breed around them. They feed off of others’ pain. They actively hurt others, shame others, guilt others, belittle others in order to satiate their own ego or insecurities. While the first may be toxic only in that particular situation or around that person, a truly toxic person makes almost everyone around them miserable. They have no intention of changing themselves.

Through fiction, we test these boundaries and find out where we draw the line. We might not endure all the wrongs in the world or encounter each of these kinds personally, but still, these stories help us identify what we value in ourselves and others.

I am not going to preach who should be favoured or hated. But it’s imperative to have some discernment towards what we are exposed to instead of parroting every word spewed by a fictitious character poorly written by a morally questionable woman.
