it’s crazy how much damage stranger things did to its own reputation with just one episode. the finale should’ve been dropped with vol.2, or it should have been split 5&6 and 7&8. now nobody trusts them to wrap everything up, they’ve pissed off all the shippers (minus lumax), and people are doubting the duffers’ writing abilities (and morals). even if they manage to turn things around in the finale, letting everyone stew on chapter 7 (an episode that sets up multiple characters for tragic endings) for a week has soured the series in so many people’s minds. not everyone has been burned by queerbaiting, but everyone has been burned by shows with bad endings.

regardless of how stranger things ends, people are now expecting disappointment. and that’s tragic.
