I'm Yaten and I play the keyboardist for the Three Lights. After coming here from Kinmoku with my princess, I stayed here with Seiya and Taiki. We three together make the Sailor Starlights.

“Uh, it’s nothing really,” he shrugged feeling rather embarrassed about the whole situation. “It’s just some music festival I’ll be performing at. I’m not one of the main performers. Just a shooting act.” In comparison, she probably would have been headlining. He was so lame next to her, and he felt so self-conscious even telling her.

“I think I got most of it down, but there’s this part in the chorus that I can’t get. There’s a high kick and then a jump backwards, but the problem is that I can’t kick fast enough and get my legs on the ground to jump back again.” The whole situation frustrated him.

“Oh yeah... I remember now. I think I’m supposed to be I the festival. I mean... I think that I am, I haven’t checked through my schedule. I should really do that when I take a trip to the studio.” Well, if she wasn’t performing, she could always come see Daniel perform. She used to love watching him sing and perform, it was always an amazing experience.

“Well why don’t you show me the moves? That way you have another set of eyes to give advice. If you can’t do the kick and backflip right after, maybe you need a running start or better, a tiny jump before the kick, that way you’ll have a little bit of momentum to attempt the backflip.”

A satisfied smirk surfaced on Ace’s face at her blush. The pink against her cheeks was a nice contrast to her silver hair, and he enjoyed being the one to put the color in her cheeks.

Of course, it was his turn to blush when she asked him once again why he was here. Clearly the view was not enough of a reason to be at the park. 

“Well,” he tried to sound confident, but he felt quite nervous. “I was practicing some choreography,” he shrugged.

Curse him for making her blush and curse herself to being so weak to blush at a few simple words. Sighing softly, she guessed that this was her fate. To fall for guys who never really wanted her.

She grinned slightly at his blush before blinking a couple of times. So he was still into his music, that was good to hear. He did make incredible music and was a fantastic dancer.

“Really? Do you have a show coming up? You should show me what you have so far.” She suggested.

Blink, blink. Oh, that was hella direct. He couldn’t avoid that comment at all. She was definitely flirting, and if that was the case, he could do the same. 

“I think your reflection would beg to differ,” he winked at her before relaxing his posture on the bench. Flirting was something so natural to the both of them. And Ace had never really forgotten about that. Something about Yaten put him at ease. Even now when they were awkward around each other.

He couldn’t help the soft smile that surfaced on his lips as he thought about it. I’ve missed you, Tenny.

He definitely caught on to her shameless flirting now. There was a sense of pride, a small grin forming on her lips, knowing that she could still cat h him off guard on things.

She blushed, he always did know what sort of things to say to turn her whole face, even now. She shouldn’t be doing this, didn’t he have a famous girlfriend that he should attend to. She wanted to call him out out it, to point it out but didn’t. She turned her gaze off of his handsome face and stared straight ahead. “Well thank you I do try. So what were you doing out here anyway?”

She still couldn’t help but smile, she missed this. She missed their closeness and she missed him too.

It’s fine, he wanted to reply to her, but he preferred not to engage further than that. Both people were at fault it seemed, he more so than she, but now they were here, and he should actually make an effort to try and talk to her now that he has a chance.

Her next comment caught him off guard, though. Was she flirting with him? For a moment, he smirked at her, ready to flirt back, but he stopped himself. It was too soon, and he could have been reading her tone wrong, so he decided to play oblivious just in case she wasn’t flirting. 

“Yeah, you’ve been to many places, I imagine that you have,” he chuckled before taking a seat next to her.

She should really let go of her anger, but what would that mean if she did? Regardless, he was trying to be nice and civil with her, be the friends they once were before emotions got to them. Really, it wasn’t like he ghosted her in the relationship. He did the right thing and broke up with her- and she ghosted everyone and vanished.

He wasn’t taking her bait with the flirty comment. That was a new one, he always openly flirted with her. Maybe if she did it again, he wouldn’t feel so tense around him or she tense with him. She shifted her gaze to him as he sat beside her, curious of what could come out of their mouths next.

“I have seen many places, many people too. Yet the view next to me is a particularly good one.”

Yeah, it was definitely her. “I’ve been good,” he answered honestly. “I didn’t realize that you liked to run in this park. If I had known, I would make more of an effort to come out here,” he chuckled. “How have you been? I haven’t heard from you in a while. I was getting a little worried.”

To be fair, phones worked both ways. He could have sent text messages more often but after his breakup with Minako, he chose to mostly interact with people in person, not phone. Also, he had started focusing more with the company he was with, and it was just easier to make excuses as to why he wasn’t hanging out wiht people as often.

“I don’t come here that often, just wanted to go somewhere different today.” She explained, taking her headphones out before tucking them into her bra, shifting from one foot to the other. “I’ve been busy.” Like avoiding you like the plague, making sure we don’t cross paths. “Besides, if you were that worried, you could have always called or sent me a message.”

Though it wasn’t like she tried to make any effort. They were trying to be friends, but she didn’t know how they could be with all the baggage between them. He went off with Minako and she left the country without telling a soul. They had so much that they needed to talk about and she didn’t know how it could work out. “So what were you here? Taking in the view?”

Her words were true, but it didn’t make them hurt any less. He was trying to engage in light conversation, but she… He didn’t understand her. Maybe she was a bit upset that he hadn’t messaged her? But if she was so busy, would she even had time to message back?

His smile fell, and while he wasn’t upset, he didn’t make an effort to continue smiling. “Yeah, you’re right. I guess I could have,” he shrugged as he glanced over at the spot he was practicing at.

“It’s a nice view.” His cheeks blushed lightly. Telling an actual idol that he was practicing choreography for a festival was out of the question. It was too embarrassing.

She needed to calm down or they were going to have the talk of talks that she knew they weren’t ready for. She hated that their past seemed to hover over them because things felt unsaid. Taking a deep breath, she pushed all the negativity as she plastered a smile to her face. Maybe a little fake, but she knew how to keep it looking normal.

“I could have messaged you too, so I’m no better.” Feeling her legs starting to feel like jello, she nodded her head over to the benches, the question a silent one to join her as she walked over to them.

“It does have a pretty view, but I could think of a few views far better,” she replied cheekily as she sat down, looking up at him with her green eyes.

“Ugh,” he sighed making the same mistake as he had all week. For some reason, he couldn’t transition from the high kick to the jump fast enough, and it was making him a half-beat too slow. Being the perfectionist he is, it was unacceptable.

He huffed loudly as he ran his hand through his sweaty hair. The festival was less than a month away, and he wasn’t sure if he would be prepared for it.

“Again,” he ordered himself. Left twist, right twist, left twist-

“Tenny?” he called out to her before jogging in front of her. “Yo!” he gave her a wide smile.

She loved the wat the drums sounded in her ears as she kept her pace, nothing could replace that feeling.

Well plenty things could, but that wasn’t the point. She was enjoying herself and that’s all that mattered. She could feel the burn in her legs and she knew she would need a break soon, she was going to need a bench as she turned down the path into-

She really couldn’t catch a break? Of all places Daniel was here and now in front of her. Gods, preserve her.

“...hey” she responded as she stopped and took deep breaths. “How have you’ve been?”

“Tenny,” he shook his head in disbelief. “Your career is not silly. I can’t believe you would really say something like that about yourself. Your band is the most successful band in Japan, and you clearly are talented even as a solo artist. You should give yourself more credit.”

How could she really think that her career was silly? It was obvious to fans how hard she worked. It was obvious to Ace when they were together.

His eyes lingered on her. “It’s really great to see you, but I should get going, or I’ll be late. We should catch up properly. Don’t be a stranger,” he grinned before taking off.

She couldn’t help but blush from his words. He still had that effect on her, after all this time. “You know me, I never really see the true potential of all I’ve done until it’s spelled out for me.” She laughed softly, she knew she should give herself more credit. It was hard to being beaten down.

She really needed to go, she was going to be late for her photography session, her friend was going to kill her if she get there on time.

“Of course, it was great seeing you.” She smiled, alibet a bit weakly. “I’ll do my best to not be a stranger if you don’t.” She gave a quick wave before sighing. She was doomed.

Months had passed since Minako and Ace had broken up, and Ace finally felt he could move on. It took three lifetimes before he could date her, and they still broke up because he could no longer stay in a relationship he knew was doomed. They had finally decided to part ways before it caused too much of a strain on their relationship that could possibly make them bitter towards each other.

Since their breakup, he began focusing on his idol career. The dances, the vocal training, he did not remember it being this difficult. Which is why he had taken a personal day today and went to Inokashira Park. He could enjoy the couples paddle-boating in swans, see children running around with their friends playing tag.

While today was supposed to be a rest day, he had come to the park for its wide open space to practice the new choreography for a song he would be performing as a shooting act in an upcoming music festival.

It had been months, she didn’t understand why she stayed. Sure, she was busy and yes, her and Daniel found a way to be friends again, but that didn’t mean she wanted to stay in the place where her heart was broken. It was embarrassing, trying to keep smiling when all the old feelings just sat at the edge of her tongue, daring her to speak. She did what she did best, she ran,

Of course she didn’t run away, but she running. Listening to her music, she knew the best way to chase her feelings was to run them out. So she shifted her path and headed to Inokashira park, knowing how big it was and she was going to enjoy her run.

She entered that park, feeling a sense of happiness with the wind in her face and nothing but music in her ears. Nothing could stop her now.

Her soft voice was enough to look at her once more with a relaxed smile. If she was angry, she wasn’t showing it, and he would enjoy the moment for the time being.

“It’s been so long. I missed you,” he spoke quickly not even aware of his words. “I’ve kept up with your career,” he chuckled shyly. “It seems you were doing really well touring solo. I’m really happy for you!”

And just like that, he had run out of things to say. How was this possible? He felt ridiculous trying to keep her in a dead end conversation with him. They used to be so good together, and now, he couldn’t even manage small talk with her without feeling awkward. It would be wishful to think they could even be friends at this point. But he wanted it so badly… Fates, he missed her.

She should have been angry, she should have already punched him and walked away. So why was she contented to stand here and keep looking at his handsome face? Glutton for punishment is what she was.

“It has been awhile hasn’t it? Have you really kept up with my career? I didn’t think you’d have time... or care for my silly solo career.” Why would he be bothered to keep track on her? Didn’t he have better things to do with Minako. “I’m trying my best out there, your career seems to be doing good too.”

She missed how easy it was to talk to you, yet she hasn’t forgotten how painful it truly all was. If it had been before, she would have been able to reach up and play with his hair, hold his face, feel his lips against her- no... she couldn’t keep doing this to herself. It’s why she left this behind her, because she knew that a part of heart was still his, even after all this time. “I’ve missed you too,” she spoke softly, unsure of their next step in this talk.

    She couldn’t believe she let it go that far. Had it really been that long since she’s go out for something as a simple walk? When looking back over the last year or so, it was almost too easy to go into hiding. All she had to do was make a few phone calls, make the necessary arrangements and she boarded a plane so early in the morning that there would never be a picture taken of her. Her plane ride had her land in the United Kingdom, a breath of fresh air that was Japan and all of the drama that was left behind. All of the unresolved feelings and anguish over a relationship that ended when the other person became available to her once boyfriend. After all this time, she didn’t understand why she even cared. It’s what she should have known was coming to her. Not one of her relationships, could end in happiness. She must be cursed, or worst, only cared about damaged people who grow with her, only to dump her when something better comes along. Happened in two relationships before Seiya. Then Seiya met Usagi, and by now everyone knew how that ended.

    Finally, there was Daniel, someone she thought was going to be with her to the end. She finally got something right. It was right there, there in front of the Leicester Square Theater that all of her thoughts of Daniel that, she tried (and horribly failed,) to ignore all crashed around her. There many dates together, their long nights when they first met at a bar, her being the surprisingly sympathetic ear to his woes, just listening to him complain. Those turned into just listening to his day before their playful flirts began. Those flirts became something much more imitate and she could feel her heart yearn again. Of course, that promptly got destroyed in a manner of minutes. All because her highness was suddenly wanting him. Of course, she was still pissed at Minako, it wasn’t enough for Usagi to ruin something when they were younger, but Minako had to repeat all of it again when she was older. Her resentments would do her no good here, she knew, but her anger wasn’t fully quenched.

    So, when her anger and pain wouldn’t be satisfied, she resorted to her old vices; drinking and lots of meaningless sex. No one knew who she was here, she could just be a free woman to do whatever and whoever she wanted. She also studied more, learned she wasn’t too terrible in photography and slowly began to make it a career. If her music career was considered over, then she might as well have a back up plan. Which lead her right back to where she was. Right back in Japan.

    She was back for work, helping out a fellow performer take pictures for her album. She hadn’t realized how hard it still was to walk these particular streets after so long. Then again, she should finally listen to Taiki’s advice: running was never going to solve her problems. Regardless, she was back now and needed to deal with it, for her work and headed toward a coffee shop, letting her now long silver hair bounce with ever step. One can never handle a day in a photoshoot without coffee.

Life could not be better.  Minako and Daniel had become the cutest couple.  No, they weren’t particularly famous nor were they the power couple that they could have been several years ago.  They were average.  And they were happy with that.  They went on cute dates such as going for a light dinner then walking around to find dessert.  They were always holding hands.  He would let her ride the back of his bicycle.  It was the most normal he had ever felt with a girl he dreamed of.  

There were moments, though, when he was reminded that this relationship could never last.  He was reminded anytime she had to fight an enemy.  Anytime she spoke about her friends.  About her beloved princess.  It was in these moments he wondered what an actual normal life would be.  What would his life be like if he never had recovered his memories?  

The only person who had ever allowed him to feel normal at all times was Yaten.  She made him forget that they lead double lives.  Although, it was sometimes difficult to spend time with her when she was so much in the limelight as a celebrity.  But when it was only the two of them, she always managed to make him feel like they belonged together.  If they had stayed together, he might have been happy.  No, he WOULD have been happy with her.  He knew it, but he got scared at the last moment.

After Minako had confessed her feelings for him, he became confused.  He knew that he always wanted to be with Minako, but he also enjoyed his time with Yaten.  He cared about the silver-haired woman so much, he didn’t want to lead her on while questions of ‘what if’ plagued him.  It wasn’t fair to Tenny especially since she seemed to understand him all too well.  She would see through him so quickly.  Why bother keeping up a facade at that point?

At least a year had passed since he had last seen Tenny.  Every so often, he would see her on a tabloid, but he refused to believe anything written about her.  He would much rather hear from her instead.

As usual, he walked to the coffee shop nearby to order a cappuccino.  He would do some light writing there since it was his day off.  Normally, he would go see Minako, but she was working, so he thought he could be productive.  As he neared it, he noticed the all-too-familiar silver hair.  "Tenny?“ he spoke louder than he meant as he blinked in surprise.  Impossible.

She knew there was always a risk that she would see someone that she hadn’t seen in over a year. All she could do was explain herself the best she could. No, wait. She wasn’t going to explain herself to anyone but herself. She was a grown woman, why did she always have to explain her actions whether they were good or bad? If she was the one who was going to fall, then it would all on her and no one else.

Yet, she knew that it was precisely those feelings that left her compete alone and without many people she could rely on. Though, she did know that if she ever needed Taiki, she would be there for her, and Seiya too, despite their past. It served none them any good to dwell on the past, all she could try to do was keep moving forward.

A part of her wished that she would settle down, find someone who would love her unconditionally. But, she knew that wasn’t the cards for her. She would just have to live her life the way she could. If that meant never putting down any sort of roots and go wherever her job will lead her, then it would be all worth it. She was meant to find some sort of happiness in this time and in this world.

As long as she never had to see Daniel or Minako in the next 50-60 years of her life, then she would consider her happy life a success. No more would she have to be surrounded by fake friends, fake relationships, people who only used her as a stepping stone for their next lover. She was finally done with all of those empty feelings that would threaten to swallow her whole some days.

Then in that moment, all of that strength that she had built up seemed to fade in an instant when she heard her name. Her shoulders stiffening in a heartbeat. Well, not her name, the nickname that Daniel had given her long ago in their relationship. Well now she wasn’t going to need a coffee to handle the day, she was going to be needing something far stronger to help her get past the next five minutes. No, she would give him a piece of her mind, she would tell him what she really thought of him.

Her body spun around, letting her hair following in a flow. Seeing his eyes unfortunately, ruined all of the anger she had built up. “…Ace.”

She was as lovely as the day he had last seen her if not more.  Those green eyes still mesmerized him, and he could feel his lips giving her the same warm, natural smile he would give her during their relationship.  She had that effect on him.

For a moment, he didn’t believe the softness of her voice.  He expected her to be angry or upset with him especially with the way things had ended between them.  The memory made his smile disappear, and he suddenly felt embarrassed as if he shouldn’t be speaking to her.

“What a pleasant surprise,” he looked away guiltly for a moment, unsure of how she would react.  "I hope you have been well, Yaten.“

She wished she could just be angry, curse his name and everything about what he had done to her. Was she perhaps so removed from the situation by leaving that any anger she had was gone? Was she still affected by him still after all this time?

He still looked as handsome as ever, and seeing his smile made her cheeks flush, almost hiding a bit in her hair to avoid her blush being seen. She shouldn’t be acting this way, for all she knew, he and Minako were still an item and she wasn’t ready to walk down that path again.

“A surprise indeed, she murmured softly, equally unsure of how to be around him. “I have been really well, busy but well. I hope have been doing good as well, Daniel.”

How could she object to Yaten ordering such a thing from her? Quite simply she couldn’t. She settled on the couch next to her sister in arms and relaxed for a simple time of cuddling and keeping somewhat warm through the colder season.

“So, I suppose I am your portable space heater now?”

Yaten nodded her head, happily snugging up to her sister and held onto her arm as she picked up the remote. There was nothing better to do then to be warm next to her family and figure out what movie to watch.

“Well you are so tall no? More war,th for you to share.”
