A MOMENTARY STARE , if one can call it as such . brows furrow inward as spock works his brain to assess the situation . lips part in turn for his answer to his captain but nothing but dead air meets the room . mouth closes again & arms swing around his back with ease , he folds his hand neatly together . it is challenge to keep his feet from rocking at the present time . he tries again once more to open his mouth , thoughts a little more clear & under control . ❛ you are injured captain . it is only logical that you would have taken notice of this ❜ his words of course are professional , but his tone conveys a more personal aggravation . spock knows jim is lying .
Jim knew realistically that there was no way he was going to get away with the fact that he had gotten injured, but it was worth a shot. There was also a small part of him that took the smallest amount of amusement from the down right frustrated look that Spock was desperately trying to hide. Sure to someone passing by the half Vulcan looked calm and collected, but Jim being someone who knew the other rather well could see the irritation.
“Oh, this?” he asked reaching up to try to wipe away a bit of the blood. “It’s just a scratch, no big deal.” he said with a shrug. It was definitely more than a scratch and probably would require stitches, but he was hoping that Spock couldn’t tell just by looking at it.
