Mud Bath? No, Mud Shower! I continue to look through old photography files and came across this little beauty from 2011. It’s a scene from the April 2011 Grass Track event at Dalways Bawn. I was pummelled with flying mud on more than one occasion on that evening whilst taking photographs. Great fun, though. Based on my recent posts, you can probably tell I’m going through some old photography files, of late.... I took this particular image a few years back (May ’11 – where does time go?) whilst out on a photography outing to Slemish, Ballymena. I came across this little fella stranded on the roadside hiding among the rushes and separated from his mother. Not having any mint sauce on me at that particular point in time I did the only decent thing and lifted the little fella back over the barbed wire fence to his awaiting mother. They both run off happily together into the sunset and I went on my merry way, hungry; struggling with a strange, inexplicable, craving for kebab. (Only kiddin'...) Before the Bridges were built...
I took this image of the Gobbins Head, Islandmagee, County Antrim back in 2014 when the Gobbins Path was – to say the least - a fascinating but treacherous place to visit. It’s a lot safer now, with bridges and guide chains. But, I must say, in my opinion, it is less adventurous. :)

“The Eagle Has Landed!”
July 20th 2019 will be the 50th anniversary of man’s first landing on the moon (allegedly, some might say...). Neil Armstrong’s words ‘Houston, the Eagle has landed’ carries a lot more significance than the title of my image. But, nonetheless, I find both landings pretty impressive in their own ways. I went for a (short) walk to-day in Woodburn Forest with the family (and the pooches). Following the heavy rain (and hailstones!) the colours in the forest were just amazing and deeply saturated. It's been a while since I've posted a landscape photo. I was playing around with Lightroom Classic this evening and produced this version of an old image of St. John's Point Lighthouse taken back in Jan 2017. I was rummaging through some old photo files last night and found this one of Murlough Bay, County Antrim. To me, it epitomises the the rugged and beautiful landscape that characterises our Northern Ireland scenery. (including the dull, overcast skies!)
I took this image at a wild-life sanctuary back in 2013 while on a road trip to Scotland. (It's a Pallas Cat - a small wild cat found on the grasslands and steppes of Central Asia.) The image has been well-received by visitors to the ViewBug website where it's hosted. It has featured as finalist in several competitions and has now been selected as a featured image for the site's Gallery Wall. I'm flattered but chuffed, at the same time. :) Photo by Stephen_Lavery
