lady tremaine + personality tests (inspired by)
“Come along Anastasia. Stand up straight! Smile! You are meeting the prince tonight. He shan’t dance with you if you slouch.”
Ella had mistakenly believed the guests might be staying several days, but she said nothing about this. “I see. I will be sure to prepare the food before I remove myself from the area.”, she assured the woman. “Would you like me to prepare the game tables in the salon before I begin in the kitchen?”, she asked, knowing her stepmother might forget to ask about them until right before the guests would arrive. Madam would, of course, blame Ella for this, even when it was not her fault.
”Very good, Ella!” Madonna praised in a patronizing tone. Perhaps the child wasn’t a complete waste of space. She was however making a suitable replacement for the prior staff of the manor. Of course her only reward was not being called ‘Cinder’, for the time being of course. Such a clever nickname. She would credit her girls for that, though she wouldn’t admit it out loud, they certainly weren’t the wisest of young ladies. “If you succeed in these tasks, you may have the food that remains at the end of the evening.”

“I’m hardly a confidant of the prince’s, miss. As I hear it, he plans to invite the whole town. Won’t he meet your daughters then?”
”Of course, we wouldn’t dare miss it. Do forgive me. I have taken quite enough of your time.”
”The best? Madam, will all respect due, you should adjust your definition.”
”Oh your majesty. Such a wit!”
”Those dresses are… something. Have you… had them made?”
"Why yes, Your Highness. Only the best for such an occasion.”
“Your Highness, may I present my daughters?.....Girls.”
“I suppose so, in a manner of speaking. If you go far enough up the chain of command then I guess so. Though I’m not really that important.”
"Nonsense, keeping control of the classes within in the kingdom is vital. Tell me- what do you know of this impending ball? Is the prince aware a suitable bride resides in this very household?”
“Not exactly. One of the lords hired me on as an extra guard.”
”Then you are employed by his royal highness?”
“It is a bit…well I should say that I would be embarrassed to live here,” she admitted. “Are you marrying money?”
“I’m through with marriage.” She replied with a smirk. “No, what I have in store is much grander.”
You needn't call me that. Madam will do.
Lady Tremaine
Hiding a smile, Ella nodded politely. “Yes ste-…Madam. How long will your friends be visiting?”, she asked, her voice soft. The longer, the better. Staying out of sight meant precious time with her friends in the attic or time for her to go riding, so she was pleased with the news, even if it meant more work. Perhaps she might even see her friend again, if she was lucky.
“I can imagine quite late into the evening.” She had better keep to herself. Had her friends witnessed the very disaster she was intrusted with she would surely be pitied. Madonna Tremaine was not one to accept pity. The farmhouse alone was enough to embarrass her. “See to it the entrées are provided before you do whatever it is you do up in that attic of yours.”
“A group of dear old friends of ours will be visiting within the next few hours. Finish the list of chores I have set for you and do be sure to stay out sight. I can’t very well have our family associated with you looking such a fright.”
“Ah, I’m not looking to marry, miss. I’m sure your daughters are lovely though.”
“Forgive me, Monsieur. Your appearance led me to believe you were from the Royal Guard.”
