Exercises and Drills
Here are some drills and exercises I found that could possibly be helpful. I hope they’re helpful. (Note: they may not all be directly Irish dance related)
Toe point:
Feet exercises that ballerinas use (It’s still good for Irish dancers though) :
Big toe strengthening:
Extreme ab workout (this one is awesome!):
5 best ab exercises:
6 min arm workout
5 min arm workout
Lots of stretching
Really long stretching video
Feet strengthening and alignment exercises
Better posture workout
Irish dance things that are just the best
1. When you finish a really good hornpipe and you’re like “I didn’t die AND it looked good?” 2. When the judge nods at you before ringing the bell 3. Good spins 4. Standing on a chair in the back of the hall to catch a friends set 5. Seeing your friends on chairs in the back of the hall watching your set 6. Seeing a friend at a feis when you weren’t expecting them to be there 7. Hitting every damn click 8. Marking scores during results cause you’re too nervous 9. Feis naps 10. When your mom/dad/feis parent/ teacher is super proud of you 11. Another dancer telling you you did well 12. Being happy with how you danced 13. Taking your shoes off after several hours in the studio 14. Long days at the studio that are exhausting but fun 15. Seeing a friend for the first time in months 16. Going to a show and having a good sounding floor That’s all I can think of, but add more if you want.
Getting a new solo dress and feeling like an absolute princes dancing in it😊
These Rising Star skirts are giving me serious vintage solo dress vibes 💥
when something you were around for is “vintage” now 😱😱😱😱
⭐️Jasmine's Favorite New Orleans Places⭐️
I’m so pumped for Nationals in New Orleans that I made a list of all my fave places. NOLA is literally one of my favorite cities :) feel free to share with your friends, dance school, and anyone else!
⭐️Jasmine’s Favorite NOLA places⭐️ •Desserts/Beignets: - Cafe Du Monde (usually a very long line unless you go early in the morning or night) - Cafe Beignet (more beignets) - Creole Creamery (best ice cream EVER) - Hansen’s Sno-Bliz (shave ice with ice cream and tons of flavors, you can get it without ice cream if you want but I recommend it with ice cream. usually a long line, but I highly recommend this place)
•Food: - Old Coffee Pot (po boys, very good crepe things) - Cafe Maspero (I love their jambalaya and alligator po boy) - The Joint (get their pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac n cheese & use their signature bbq sauce on both) - Antoine’s (so so good, but pretty expensive, expected to dress up nice if you go here)
•Places: - The French Quarter - Bourbon Street (clubs, bars, surprise acts on the street, etc.) - Coven House (American Horror Story: Coven. Season 3) - Historic Voodoo Museum (this place is super cool) - Marie Laveau’s House Of Voodoo (on bourbon street, good authentic voodoo dolls, fortune teller) - Voodoo Authentica - City Park (put put golf, peddle boating, etc) - Louis Armstrong Park - Jackson Square - French Market (lots of cool stuff, it’s fun to bargain for the prices to be lowered) - The Presbytere (learn about the destruction of Hurricane Katrina) - Lower 9th Ward (see first hand the destruction of Katrina, make sure to notice the number of empty lots that still have not been rebuilt) - Mississippi River - Audubon Park (also has Audubon Zoo)
#NOLA (at Leneghan Academy of Irish Dance)
IRISH DANCE TUMBLR IS JUST THE OCCASIONAL COUGH IN A MOSTLY EMPTY AUDITORIUM WHILE SOMEONE IS PLAYING A HORNPIPE OFF KEY ON STAGE
HOW ARE YA’LL DOING??? ARE U GUYS EVEN ALIVE???
Tragically vivid and accurate description.
It used to be so active I miss it
^honestly same
this is gorgeous.
i don’t care what anyone says, the wigs complete our sport.
if wigs didn’t exist, this could be a picture of a random girl off the street, a make-up artist, a ballet dancer, etc… but because she is wearing that hair piece, people automatically know what kind of dancer she is. and i think that’s pretty damn cool.

The Hornpipe to end all hornpipes
I’m really not ready to leave hornpipe yet
Day 3 Parade of Champions
ya gurl got to attend riverdance’s free charity performance today, met amy-mae dolan (omg), met padriac moyles again (AND HE REMEMBERED ME), and then cried out of joy afterwards
A little reel around the sun action for you from the girls 16-17 light shoe round this morning. Backed up the live comm and listened to this reel 5 times before I realized I could just record it as a video. Seriously, the music has been 🔥🔥🔥 today!!
Another feis weekend. Only one more before nationals!
also recorded the full performance of the ‘riverdance’ number!!
reblog this before April 2nd and I'll put your URL somewhere around LA.
so I thought it would be cool to write people’s urls that reblog this down on pieces of paper and stick them around Santa Monica, LA, Hollywood, and SLO with little pieces of tape.
I’ll take a picture of where I put your piece of paper and tag your url. :)
