WOW what a few weeks we've had. For everyone who's had to deal with some bullshit or the other recently Here's a nice fun interview Electronic Beats did with THE MOLE aka Colin de la Plante. DON'T FORGET WE ARE ON THURSDAY 23RD NIGHT DUSK TERRACE!!! https://www.facebook.com/events/715955808491695/723416477745628/?ref=notif¬if_t=plan_mall_activity
Meet THE MOLE
This is an interview from a couple of years ago with Colin de la Plante and RA Exchange which gives a nice insight to the person that is... It's hard to get a straight answer out of Colin de la Plante. His responses begin normally enough, but then he just starts to wander off on a different path entirely. His music as The Mole, however, is almost the complete opposite. Addicted to seeing what happens when something is repeated over and over and over again, de la Plante is in love with highly focused repetition. (In 2008, after the release of As High as the Sky, many fell in love with it too.) His past in the British Columbia underground along with his friends in Cobblestone Jazz (a group he sometimes records with) may offer some clues as to where all this comes from. The same goes for his time spent soaking up the scene in Montreal as it started to take off in the early '00s. But the answer probably won't be found in this particular interview. As we said, de la Plante tends to get sidetracked (and so does his microphone). Nonetheless, it's one of our favorite Exchanges yet.
(((((( STEREOTYPE#8 at THE BASEMENT )))))) The new season is back in full effect. And so are we. Our first international booking of the season is Canadian born, Berlin resident, The Mole! We have been talking to Colin (aka The Mole, Modern Deep Left Quartet, aka Cobblestone Jazz, aka Mole of Soul) for quite some time about making the journey down to Dubai for his Solo debut. The stars have aligned and the timing is right. The Mole Biography (courtesy of XLR8R): The Mole (a.k.a. Colin de la Plante) certainly isn't the only Canadian producer who's set up shop in the dancefloor-friendly confines of Berlin, but he's surely one of the most accomplished. Though the veteran producer maintains a relatively low profile, his resume is impressive by just about any standard. A longtime member of the Wagon Repair stable, de la Plante has also released music for labels like Kompakt, Ostgut Ton, Perlon, and New Kanada, amongst others. "The first record that ruined my head was Stevie Wonder's "Talking Book" - that says a lot about canadian-born Colin de la Plante, better known as The Mole. He loves to dive into the music, get lost in it, follow its flow. Be it as a DJ or a producer, solo or in his numerous collaborations, he is a true musician. He knows about harmony, change, melody and how to combine that, but respects music enough to not let knowledge stand in the way when the music itself takes over: "Sometimes I surprise myself, sometimes it trips me out where it takes me". Mood setters on the night are your local boys, larger than life Somalie and kebab eating champion DJ Hassan Alwan. Door cover: AED100 // Ladies free before midnight Guest List till Midnight Only! Patience is a virtue they say... And we've been very patient, on the everlasting search to find the right space. A space which brings together everything that is true about underground electronic music. The right size, the right sound, the right feel, and most importantly, the right vibe which is what what we count on all of you for. We think that we've found that space. Bring your beautiful selves down on Friday April 11 to Kings, where we will be kicking off a series of House, Techno, Disco, Dubstep and Reggae events. We debut at Kings with STEREOTYPE featuring ISOLÉE :live ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Isolee's Beau Mot Plage on Playhouse Records in 1998 continues to throw shivers down people's spine today, just as it did back in 1998. He is a man that cannot be pigeon holed into one genre; pick up an Isolee release and you will find yourself anywhere between House, Techno and Electronica musical dimensions. Since his critically acclaimed album WE ARE MONSTER on Playhouse, Rajko Muller (Isolee) has and continues to push his unique and always original musical creations with Classic, Playhouse, Diynamic Music, Mule Electronic, Dial and Tamed Musiq. Isolee has recently teamed up wit his old pal DJ Koze to release his third full length album Well Spent Youth on Pampa Records. For all you music purists and machine fetishists, Isolee is the man you've been looking for. Supporting Isolee on warmup and closing is Hassan Alwan. Hassan is a self confessed Wino (he drinks alot of wine) and Kabab connoisseur. Please be sure to catch up with Hassan during Isolee's set to get the latest from the underground wine and kabab scenes. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Cover: AED100 / Ladies Free Before Midnight Time: 10PM - 3AM Venue: Kings, Armada Hotel, Al Barsha
