18. Your character walking in on mine throwing up.

"Goddamn it, that’s the last time I drink from the hotel restaurant." Falco grunted, dunking his head back into the toilet pan, he’d been sick there for so long, it felt like the seat was going to cut his head off.

Robin slowly opened the door, resulting in a small creak. “I’d better flush this pizza… that chef’s cooking isn’t particularly good.” Not only were the drinks there horrible, so was the food. Things today weren’t that great, especially for their standards.

As soon as she entered the room, an erroneous odor flew over her, following the sound of vomiting. Robin immediately took a few steps back, startled. Honestly, she wasn’t sure what she expected to come out of the bad services here, but she didn’t expect to find someone throwing up.

She could tell from the space-age outfit and the talons that it was Falco. Well… This was awkward. Robin gently walked forward, staring down at the bird with a sense of pity.

"Uh… Can I get you anything? Water or something?"

A tactician, hmm? How many lands have you conquered?

An interesting question… Our army hasn’t conquered any land as much as we have fought wars. I don’t think Chrom is very interested in conquering, and I follow his orders, so…

"At least you admitted now, so you’re fine. How much?"

"Uh, compared to what you ordered, two chocolate bars isn't that much, right? ... It's not in my position to ask, but why'd you buy so much of it?"

The monarch quickly hopped to his feet, picking the hammer up and letting it rest on his shoulder as he looked towards their room. “Let’s hope our place isn’t frozen over, though. ‘s where my stash of extras are, anyway.”

"Y’wouldn’t know if our room is alright or not, would ya?" He mused, assuming that Robin had come from that direction, anyway. "Considerin’ how hard the lobby door was, I don’t know if our room could survive being frozen over, as well."

Then again, it’s another reason to use his hammer.

The king loved his hammer.

Robin thought back to this morning, how she had to get Anna to bail her out of her own room because the door was frozen, and how she then proceeded to kick the door down. Yeah... the room was only a bit icy, and she took care of all the dirty work.

"It's ok, for the most part. The floor is a bit slippery and the walls are a kind of cold, but everything's intact."

Robin started walking towards the room, a mild expression on her face. Was Dedede actually thinking of breaking in with his hammer? That would've been messier than she preferred. She guessed that was like him, though, to clobber things.

"If our room was actually frozen over, it'd be a mess, especially if it thawed and everything was wet. Thank gods it's not like that..."

"Feh, it was after an argument with that old guy, Dedede. In fact, y’were there. I really don’t think just apologizin’ll solve anythin’, given that we’re really not on the best social grounds for an average make up. So I wanna try bein’ nicer before I do…-"

"Nevermind, forget I said shit, this ain’t goin’ nowhere."

"I hadn't actually considered how much an effect those arguments must have on you. As much as I wish he'd listen to you, I feel like he wouldn't... But I can try talking to him for you, if you'd allow it. I don't want you to feel like you have to change yourself."

"As far as I know, winter just hit hard. Entire place is frozen on the outside, and it’s creepin’ inside too!" Dedede snickered, an elated expression on his face. "It’s a gorgeous thing too, even tho’ I can’t really go outside to watch the storm."

Skidding to a stop, Dedede rubbed quietly at his beak, pondering. “Kinda do feel bad for the other guys, though. I’m sure y’all are freezin’ with y’dainty, thin bodies and flimsy clothes.”

It was a bit of a jab to the rest of the people in the hotel, but a playful one. Then again… he could actually do something about that.

"Say… do y’need a coat, or somethin’? I got extra." The king mused at his roommate, a smile on his beak.

Winter hit hard, huh? By the way that was phrased, she could assume it wasn't like this every year... thank the gods. As much as she wanted to enjoy the ice and snow in the hotel, it was just too cold for this.

Robin was never good with low temperatures, and so being stuck with nothing but a light cloth jacket in a harsh environment was a bit of a nightmare. Dedede seemed to understand.

"Yeah, I guess you wouldn't fit under those categories." She responded, not bothering to argue with the statement. She supposed the king was right- all her friends weren't built for this kind of weather. Robin couldn't help but feel a bit of envy. And, just as she thought that, she was offered a coat of his. Huh.

"Thank you, that's a kind offer. I'd appreciate that right about now."

"Well of course those are my specialties!" Anna did a pose. "If you need destruction and a good money maker I am here to please!"

"But in all seriousness, I could destroy the wall for you! I have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money so I could spare a couple of dimes for a friend like you!"

Oh, thank the gods Anna considered her a friend, otherwise she might have been stuck in here for a lot longer than expected.

"Well, it would be a bit more than a couple of dimes, but you do have a great deal of gold, huh. Sorry I'm asking so much of you. Do you have something to put a hole in the wall with?"

"You’re kiddin’ me…"

Dedede placed his large hand against the main entrance of the lobby doors, pushing at it. It didn’t seem to budge one bit. On a whim, he quickly raised his hammer, sucking air into his stomach once before slamming the mechanical weapon against the door. A loud bang sounded, but nothing seemed to change.

"Welp, there goes standin’ under the night winter sky, shame. At least the hotel’s cold enough to my likin’, heh!" With a running start, Dedede quickly slid out into the middle of the lobby, spinning about as he gripped his quickly frosting hammer.

"Come on y’all, enjoy it a little! Ain’t that hard!” For a penguin, at least.

"I would try to enjoy it, but I can barely feel my face..." She said, almost in a whimper, shivering as she watched Dedede slide around. Gods, she was getting colder just watching him. How could he stand to do that?

It was nice to see him cut loose and drop his usual attitude, but Robin wished it didn't have to be at such an inconvenient time. She did suppose he was some sort of penguin, though... It figures he'd be happy about the change.

"What happened, exactly? Did all this really freeze overnight? It's breathtaking..."

"Oh, Robin Hood!" Anna slid over outside Robin’s door. "Are you having a little problem here?"

She tried to open the door to find that it’s frozen cold. “Oh my!”

"Now, this won’t do…now, how am I able to free our little birdie here„,"

She knocked the door a couple of times. “Oh, Robin Hood! Don’t you have any ideas? You ARE our tactician~!”

"Robin Hood?" She reiterated, which was accompanied by a small amount of laughter. "I guess that's me."

"I've already tried forcing it down, and I don't want to set the place ablaze. There's something on the other side as well- most likely ice that isn't reachable."

Robin paused for a second, trying to think of alternatives. She could try and jump out the window or something, or just blast the door away in general. "I also don't have enough money to pay for property damage. I guess that's your specialty, huh? Damage and money."

Great, her door was stuck. It felt almost subarctic in here, frost encased some of the hallway and the walls were icy to the touch. What happened overnight? Robin remembered Mappy had said something about a faulty furnace when they were in court; was that why it was so cold? Because the furnace wasn't working?

With a sigh and mild frustration, a kick was hurled at the door, with no movement in response. It seemed like there was ice blocking the other side. It occurred to her she could use Arcfire to thaw the ice, but that would kind of burn the building down too; not something she wanted a repeat of.

With a deep breath, she began to shout. "Hey! Can I have a little help up here!?" Hopefully she hadn't gotten on anyone's bad side and people would be willing to help her. Meanwhile, she would have to wait. Today was going to be a long day.

"I didn’t mean to interrupt— and er, neither did I intend to injure you with the door," his look was that of concern, "but besides that. Have you noticed someone wearing your robes around? I don’t suppose you’re one to lend out your clothing to anyone."

His gaze shifted from the few books spread about the room back to Robin. A slight cringe over the thought that he’d, quite literally, slammed the door in her face. Which of course he gave a small apology for.

What an odd thing to ask. Robin gave him a hard, long stare, a brow raised in response to his inquiries. She hadn't let anyone wear her jacket, so it was a bit ominous Chrom would ask. He was right when he thought she wouldn't give out her belongings, so what was all this about?

"Er..."

Morgan was the only person who wore something akin to her robes, but he wasn't here. She hadn't seen anyone around under Chrom's descriptions, either, and she had been here longer than he had! This was all confusing, and... impossible.

"Is this a prank? I'm not in the mood, I'm sorry."

A few knocks on the door was surely enough to get Robin’s attention, to at least notify that he was here. He allowed himself into the room shortly after on the assumption that she might have not heard his knocking, “Robin? Hey, I’ve got a question I was wondering if you’d be able to help answer it.”
