Random Headcanons about the bunchs parents, today: Fabis father
Here is what we canonically know: his dad whistles 'Knockin' on heaven's door' (by Bob Dylan from 1973) when he is scared and he told his son how "the greatest rock band in history" (The Rolling Stones, 1962-present) got signed by their lable (Book 2), he and his wife divorce somewhere before book 8 and post book 4.
Haven't settled on a name yet, maybe Mattias (Matti for his friend) or something like Sebastian (Basti for his friends) - he definitly loves going by a nickname in casual conversation and hates being formal.
Not gonna lie my main inspiration / vibe for him is dude who sells used car - is that a clear image to everyone else? Like talks too much and too fast, with his hands when he gets exhited, great at lying and also lying all the time sometimes without noticing, good at making and spending money, makes maybe a bit too much eye contact and keeps smiling too much, untrustworthy but weirdly charming. Despite that guy actually has an office job, something deeply boring and cushy - he always has big ideas (mostly get rich quick schemes) and talks peoples ears off about them but he never going to quit his boring job, he has been with the same company since he started working and he will be till he retires or gets fired - he is a very human contrary mixing being a bit of a wild card and being deeply boring.
He always tries to talk himself out of trouble, spinning stories and alibis, like for example when police pulls him over for driving funny or too fast (he gets pulled over often, he just very distracted driving, listening to music, talking, looking at everything but the road and always a bit too fast). He relays on his charm because was never sporty, is a bit of a coward, and has no authority if Fabis mom says: "You can tell your father that at dinner" she has already given in, disciplin is her job in the marriage.
He got pushed around a bit as a kid. When people talk about people living a bit too much through their children, they often mean, they push them to reach some goal they could not reach when they were young themself, but in my headcanon Fabis father is a bit too invested in his kid being 'cool'.
Bisexual but would never say or think that, had intense 'friendships' which maybe some 'traded' sexual content but no outright sex with a man. Because he ended up marrying a woman he firmly believes what he told Fabi that it's just a phase, that 'everyone feels like that sometimes son," and he will eventually grow out of it and become 'normal'. Added to the previous living through the kid comment, he also really pushing Fabi to date, if Fabi says it's for a date he gets all the money he wants for it and can stay out till forever even on a school night etc.
Met Fabis mom at a concert, and she was just his type (taller than him, thin, blonde, a certain dangerous vibe), so he decided to annoy her till she finally gave in to go out with him, he is not exactly her type (less tall than her, kind of square build, plain) but the guy she was actually interested in wasn't interested in her and she though well sex is sex. He wanted to make it serious while she was still in the process of falling in love. He was good in bed and she liked how he made her laugh. He also does big gestures for their anniversairy or her birthday and she though that was charming; he is a lot less good at the everyday communication and stuff through.
He is always flirting at work, when going shopping or to the bank, with teachers or other parents etc, he never cheats on his wife he is just like this, he thinks he is irresistible and flirting gives him an ego boost. Simelar to him fully intending to stay at his boring job for the rest of his working life, the divorce comes as a suprise to him, he was comfortable, sure it wasn't as exhiting and fun as when they were young but being married has its perks.
Always has to be the center of the party. Definitly has a six degree of seperation to some third grade (at best) celeb that he has to mention everytime he can.
Bad at names, the only name of Fabis friends he manage to learn is Leons and that took time. Fabis mother always say they should be glad he learned her name and Fabis, you can't expect more of him. Here he finds his flirting helpful because if he calls every woman "beauty" (or when he was young something worse) it doesn't register as him not remebering the name (that it makes him seem like a sexist prick does not register to him).
Only child or youngest, the first time he held a baby was when Fabi was born, was kind of awkward about it. Got and gets along suprisingly relexed with his family, like in no way are they emotional close but he never outright rebelled against his parents even as he done a lot of stupid shit as a kid and teenager and got punished for it, but did not move greatly away from their believes and stuff.
#okay I love everything about this#I LOVE how you basically fleshed out a character out of nothing we know about him#each bit feels extremely canon to me and SO in tune to how Fabi is as a person#I love u Fabi’s dad we know nothing about#also I truly understand the vibe of dude who sells cars (tags by incorrectdwkquotes)
Thanks so much!
I am happy to hear you like him as a character, because after finishing the little write up I though, shit, he does sound like such an asshole here and he is an asshole sometimes yes (mostly without wanting to be, and not in a cruel way), but that what makes him feel human, will someone be able appreciate him for that? He is very inspired by my father and various men I grew up with so I have some weird nostalgic fondness of him.
Also really happy it feels in tune with how Fabi is as a person - I like to think pre divorce his mother often used to tell Fabi he is a lot like his dad, which this kind of annoyed but mostly fond tone, and after the divorce ... she stops saying it but Fabi still thinks about it. Related both sides always told Fabi he has the other parents irresistible smile, like Dad: "You have your mothers smile, you know that I can't say no to it Fabi. Fine do what you want but don't tell her I let you." / Mom *rolling her eyes*: "Fine, but you know it is very unfair to use your fathers smile on me, Fabi."
And happy to hear 'dude who sells used cars' is a distinct character archetype for other people too!
Food & Eating Headcanons (Animated Verse)
Jojo - as mentioned in an answer to a post by farasen: Given Jojos whole deal I would imagine his favorite food being something his mother used to cook pre her stay in the clinic (rehab?), something that remainds him of the better times (if this better times were as rosy as he remembers them is up for grabs). They already did live in the graffiti towers so I imagine it would be something cheap, quick and easy. Spontanously I decided on spagetti with a very garlic heavy sauce as his favorite food, can totally see him being picky about it having to taste just like it used to even if that actually means taste like the cheap sauce from the glass and not home made one. She doesn't have the strenght or the drive to insit on table manners, he feeds Django at the table and talks gesturing wildly while holding the knife or fork.
Markus - in contrast is someone I don't really see as having fond food memories from his childhood and his favorite food is some old school expensive shit, like this kid has a favorite food with a really fancy french name something you wouldn't associate with kids - don't ask me what because I know nothing about haute cusine. He will swear that growing up rich did not affect him, but I think he can be a real snob sometimes unintenional. His father definitly insits on table manners and Markus insits on sitting slumped back with his hands in his pockets when he is not taking a bite.
Deniz - is somewhere between them, I think his dad is way too busy to regulary cook but I can imagine him cook when he has the time so when he does it is more an event not an everyday thing, the resulting food would be more fancy and not tailored specifially to kids more stuff you cook to impress a hot date - given Deniz is like 10, and Erol still has a career, he had the kid when he was probably pretty young so I can imagine he had a lot of money young and little reason and time to learn cook for a family; for everyday food I see them (or Deniz alone) just ordering food to be delivered, fancy but in the new rich way so not old haute cusine (french), more world cusine (japanese, thai, chinese, indian etc) whatever the place has to offer, I think they would get quite a varity of things. I think he often eats alone (or with the other kids if he invits them over) and even if not I can picture them eating on the couch in front of a giant tv instead at a regular table/fancy dinning room or even the kitchen.
Leon, Marlon - actually I like to imagine BOTH of them are picky eaters, but Leon is the one who will refuse to eat something if he doesn't like it (and make a fuss when he was younger, like the moment he was too old to believe not finishing his plate will mean rain he stopped doing that) while Marlon force himself to eat it because you are not suppose to waste food (there are children straving elsewhere and it cost money and effort and all that), but like really slow, as if that will help (sometimes it does and he is told he can leave because no one wants to sit down for hours at the table). Compared to Deniz/Markus and Jojo they seem to be more midddle class, so not rich enough to pick up take out/go to McDonalds beside from special occasions but well enough off that it is sometimes an option. Their father tried to install table manners but did not know how to do so without his parents methods and so did not really success much.
Raban - this kid eats everything, least picky eater. As far as I remember the series give us nothing about his family situation, but the vibes he gives of are that no one at home has time for him, not out of any malice just what happens to be the reality, he loves eating in company through, no matter what is served he will take another refill if he has company.
Vanessa - kid with the highest percentage of home cooked meals because her grandmother is retired and values cooking, Vanessa never though about that being luxury before she actually got friends with the group. Grandma Terrible is oppose to picking up take out, Vanessa doesn't think it is bad, in fact because she rarely gets take out (only when she is over at friends) it has the vibe of something special and extra tasty for her.
Tiny headcanon, Klette likes horror movies, the bloodier the better, Nerv very very much does not, he has to close his eyes or watch through his fingers and hold someones hand through them.

Random Headcanons about the bunchs parents, today: Fabis mother
Here is what we canonically know: his mother is very protective of her porcellain plates (book 1), she used to drive rallys (all "wild and professional") (book 8).
Kerstin (for some reason one of the first names I settled on)
Youngest with two older sisters who greatly influenced her, they were close, even through they were quite a bit older than her and moved out when she was a teenager. One was a Beatles fan and one into more "hippie" music. They both influenced her with their more freedom centered ideas compared with their parents, and also both told her she is allowed to have all the sex she wants to have and should not let their parents or guys make her feel bad about it and she took that very serious. She probably has a little red book "for hip teens" book from her hippie sister. Kerstin herself grew up to be more of a 'No Future' punk girl, the time of hippies is gone in the 80s afterall.
Her mother was strict but quiet, her father was strict and loud about it, he hates this ones and that ones and anyone defying his authority. Because they were three girls her mother was responsible for the (physical) disciplin. Moved out as soon as she finished school.
Very rebellious as a kid and teenager, got more mellowed out about it as an adult but does not agree with some things with her family and will tell them if it is so. Skipped school, smoked, got that tattoo her parents did not want her to have, forged signatures for herself and for money for class mates, wore really short skirts, had sex. Was very popular in school, with her too cool for you attitude; she never developed this 'what will people think?' anxiousness, she is never suprised when people think she is attractive or fall in love with her and that includes women. Knows bisexuality exists but would not call herself that even if she had expierince with women and men, thinks that's normal for popular girls. Had a little clique who technically did not have a leader but mostly did what she said. When she is older she one day looks back and finds to her own horror that sometimes what she back then though of just being cool was being cruel and a bully, not a nice thing to realize about herself.
She babysat younger cousins and kids in the neighborhood and had some training with kids unlike her husband.
When it comes to Fabi she is responsible for disciplin, while her husband is the kind of parent to indulge the kid.
Her mother suddenly died when she was a young adult and she inherited her plate collection, the one she intentional tried to break with slamming doors all the time, she never cared about them before, now she protects them like a dragon.
Called her 'No Future' before, she definitly used to think she would live fast die young and pretty but then ... well life had a different plan for her. Definitly sometimes looks at herself in the mirror and thinks, what ever happend to you to punk, punk has to make lunch for a kid and finish her tax returns.
As a teenager/young adult she never though she would be like her parents but as time goes by her biggest fear becomes that one day she will be just like them, does everyone become more conservative as they age? Is she destinied to one day chosing comfort and 'peace' against her ideals?
Helps out at a community theater, she doesn't actually stand on stage herself (unlike her husband she doesn't hog attention, through she is capable of carrying it when it turns to her) but helps with costumes and organizing and stuff, she does take Fabi to source through thrift shops for costume stuff.
New Leon fic just dropped!!

Raban: Du Warmduscher. - You person who showers with warm water; the words are not inpolite it is an insult because of the idea taking some comfort is not tough/manly etc.
Marks: Ah Blyat. This is turkish and means "Oh, damn."
Markus' "Ah blyat" is actually russian for "ah fuck"! :3
Ah, that is a funny coincidence!

one of the details I love most :-
the frequent appearance of crows before or after a bad event
i think the crows are a sign that something bad is about to happen or a warning?!
i don't know if anyone else has talked about this but i’m really in love with this detail and i couldn't ignore it 🙏🏻

We’re standing in front of the jams, glistening away in their jars like jewels. Apricot for dad, wildberry for Leon. I absentmindedly look at the watercolor drawings on the labels. I could buy some elderflower jelly for myself, but these past few days my stomach has been taking everything I put down in front of it in its tiny angry fists and throwing it around, so it would be a waste of money.
Leon and Marlon go grocery shopping and talk.

Why do I rec this fic? Not sure how much that translates if you read it in translation but reading it in german made me very happy, everything felt more intense and more personal, there were tons of details I just wanted to point out and say: "Hey! I know this! Just like with us!" More relatable/important to other people is probably how fanfiction allows room for this kind of everyday life things and how they can used to show how characters and relationships work. Also cute the fanmixes/playlists that go along with the fics, I love the collage likeness of that/the way to engage with the characters/relationships with different media (I also found new to me music I really liked on it).

The light was just like it is now, and Kong was a black-paper-silhouette in front of the pale yellow sun. Only his piercings gleamed with every movement. Near the end of our shared school days I sometimes forgot that he is the coolest person I know, because he spent all his time cowering or snarling, but a killer is a killer, even if you put him in a cage. Rilke knew that already.
Kong and Marlon chose a movie. Marlon thinks of other things.

Why do I rec this? At this point in the fic the two of them have circa ten years of shared history and you can feel it, and I love that. I also love Kongs family situation and would love to read more of it, but even with the few words the fic really paints a picture. I personally always a fan of media with a high rate of references (if done well of course) but I know that opinions on this differ (this fic made me finally watch La Haine which has been on my list for like ever and it was my favorite new to me watch of 2025; I also watched Chunking Express and Stalker and I can warmly recommend Stalker, good movie).
