be a friend, not a “fan”
please, don’t make people feel bad for getting into Prince’s music after he’s passed. don’t make people feel bad for only knowing “purple rain” or “little red corvette” (the extended version is the Prince song i want played at my funeral). a lot of these people are younger kids and teens who didn’t have Prince as a part of their lives from the jump, like we did. they have a lot to learn and be inspired by. to be honest, that’s the beauty and adventure of listening to Prince… THERE IS SO MUCH TO DISCOVER! No one has heard all he has created. Isn’t it exciting!? And every time is like the first time.
like Prince told stephen hill in 2004: “i am music.” so he’ll forever be here for us ALL to discover him, again and again. (the man can literally release a full album of new material every year over the next century, and he’s effin’ dead.)
so, please, be a friend, not a “fan.”
i like that. friend, not a fan. yeah!
i just came 2 say hello

In early 2001 during a launch of Atlantis, the Sun, Earth, Moon, and rocket were all properly aligned for this photogenic coincidence.
