Miss Representation is a 2011 American documentary film written, directed and produced by Jennifer Siebel Newson. It explores how mainstream media contributes to the under representation of women in influential positions by circulating often negative portrayals of women. This films transitions between stories from teenage girls with provocative interviews. The film has a motto, “you can't be what you can't see,” this gives a message that women, especially young, both need and want positive role models. I personally agree with these arguments that media does not always show women in a positive light. They do what they can to create these insane standards for women that they themselves don't even meet. They give the illusion of this with things like photoshop and statements that claim the “ideal body”. The other documentary film “The Mask you Live in”, talks about the masculinity of young men and how they are being raised. Just like women, media society tries to also say what the ideal man should be. Young men see this and just like women, will feel like that if they don't meet these imaginary standards that their just not good enough. I believe that we as young adults should not worry about what society or the media tells us we should be. You should strive to be the “best you” that you can be.

I argue that parents have every right to take their children out of school and home school them if they want or if they feel the child isn't getting anything out of the school. We live in a time where education is under siege from every angle; over-testing, teacher layoffs, overcrowded classrooms, budget cuts, and failing grades. In response to this news parents all across America are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the state of public education, and a growing number are choosing to pull their children out of school to seek alternative ways to educate them. Class Dismissed focuses on the topic of education, specifically some alternative ways of learning outside of the traditional classroom. There are many choices when it comes to teaching our children, and Class Dismissed will ask some big questions like what does it mean to be educated in the 21st Century? Is it possible to get an education without attending school? Can learning outside of the classroom really provide a nurturing and educationally rich experience in which children can grow? As long as the parents are teaching and raising the children properly for their future. I don’t believe that it should be a problem. They are arguments that say children who were homeschooled grow up to be socially awkward. I don’t agree with this because that is partially up to the child. Just because you’re home schooled doesn’t mean you can’t go out with friends and socialize with new people. No matter what, education is the most important thing to have in our lives right now. It doesn't matter what method we use to obtain it.
