So I just finished watching Tenet. It's really fucking well made. The score, the visuals, and the action awesome. The story and characters fall fucking flat. Also I called a lot of the reveals way ahead of time. If you seen Doctor Who, you can predict this movie very easily. It's worth watching but I will never watch it again. Also people saying it needs multiple viewings, no it doesn't because the story is so fucking simple but just told in a very convoluted way. So I watched The Tax Collector over the weekend. Yeah, this movie sucked. Positives, Shia LaBeouf's performance and some things looked cool visually. Other than that, this movie takes itself too seriously and there's lots of story choices I wasn't happy about. I watched Falling Down on Monday. This is a perfect film about a guy with mental illness going on a rampage due to a bad day. The movie has so much social commentary that it surprised me. Last week I watched My Bloody Valentine. The original one. I watched the uncut version that got restored with the gore because the theatrical cut had the gore cut out. I loved this movie. I watched Assassination Nation. It was really fucking good. It's kinda like a modern crucible and it touches on hysteria and how technology has basically killed privacy. It also touches on how people violently react to things without context and are so quick to destroy people's lives. I watched First Blood over the weekend. It surprised me with how good it is. It's actually an action drama. Sylvester Stallone actually turns in a good performance and there is a scene where he is talking about Vietnam and it's fucking heartbreaking. I watched The House That Jack Built. I loved it. It follows a serial killer over a 12 year old period where he recounts 5 of his murders. What makes this interesting is the main character Jack. He views what he's doing as art and he truly is the definition of a monster for he can't emphasize with anything and mostly doesn't have feelings. Played greatly by Matt Dillon. This film is so brutal and rough to watch. There is a scene where he slaughters a whole family. Including kids. Movie sometimes seems scattershot in what it wants to say. I watched Lolita. It's a Stanley Kubrick film and given it's subject matter, I didn't expect this movie to be a comedy but it is. A dark comedy. I'm surprised this was made at all because of how taboo it is. In the 60's no less. It's basically about a middle age professor falls in love with a underage teenager. That's the movie. The movie basically doesn't show anything but it implies with innuendos. Movie kept making me laugh throughout it. Over the weekend, I watched Color Out of Space. It was fantastic. Based on a H.P Lovecraft story, something lands at a family's home and starts changing things including the family.
