im sorry if this is like a dumb question but why are they called chimeras?

I'll try to explain the idea I have since it's not very well drafted yet.

The reason they're called Chimeras is for two main reasons: one it follows the Satyr/Nymph charade of being named after mythological creatures and that there could be so many different posibilities and combinations.

Chimeras are created in labs (kinda like the ectobiology alpha/beta kids) but to actually create a Chimera there's some specifications to be followed. I also like the concept of "In Silico" for reference, maybe the species can only survive if their organs or physical body is inorganic and their brains have to grow digitally first. (Also shoutout to In Silico the Album that is also an inspiration)

Dominique (they/them) was born as the first Chimera kid.

Their parents are Jake English and Dirk Strider both in ultimate godtier (they're from my Falling Down AU), their fused DNA created a starbaby chimera.

And as for Aegis (she/it) she was born as the second Chimera kid. Her parents are Karkat Vantas and Dave Strider in ultimate godtier (from my Patched Up AU). Their fused DNA created a troll/human hybrid chimera.
