driving off into the sunset. // self-para
Stevie had received the job offer two months ago. At first, he thought his boss was joking; who, in their right mind, would want Stevie, a guy who barely finished high school, actually running one of their stores? Well, Edward did, it seemed. Stevie had laughed at first, but when Edward said he meant it, he couldn't help but feel excited - he'd never thought about living outside of Greensville, but it was an exciting prospect, after all. Something new, and with a boosted pay due to his new position at the new location, he could provide for Chris and maybe even finally give Brandon the ring he kept safely tucked under all his underwear, in the drawer, promising him a better life together.
Of course, leaving Greensville wouldn't be easy; he needed to talk to Brandon first. So he did; thankfully, his boyfriend was alright with leaving as well - sure, they were going to miss a lot of people, including their family, but they could always visit. They were moving just a state away, so it was more than possible for them to visit often.
Stevie never told his father that he was leaving, but he made sure that everyone else knew - people at work knew when his last day was, Becca and Sammy knew what time he was driving off with Brandon and Chris, and his mother already had his new address written in her phone for future reference.
The day came in a whirlwind of boxing things up and settling final details on the move, and then, off they went - Stevie, Brandon and Chris left Greensville, following the path to a brighter life some place else.
