oh how the horror of existence eats away at my heart but look how i cling on to the simplest acts of compassion, kind gestures, easy natural connections. bitter as i am i can't help looking at the world as if it's handmade just for me. i love loving, i love loving people. i love a soft love. no drama. no loudness. no doors being slammed. a silent love. steeped into the heart like a strong tea. jasmine scented. a love nurtured and moulded delicately with sturdy hands on a potter's wheel. a love made with love. a love to live for. a love that makes you want to stay alive, for tiny birds and the sky, for the ocean and the charcoal night. dying is no feat, we die all the time. if you are a lover, you must do the unthinkable, you must live. for you will be remembered and you will be immortalized in every bit of beauty that ever graces this earth.

you have to admit there are some joys in life that can only be felt due to hardship. a common example is steaming hot showers. it takes a cold day, or a sickness, for someone to experience the joy of a hot shower. you can’t enjoy it in the heat. then there’s the joy of a fulfilling sleep, often achieved through a tiring day. and there’s the joy of a reunion, achieved through separation. and there are many more examples. sometimes difficulty carries a special range of joys and that’s something to be thankful about.

Sh. al-Albaani رحمه الله
“If I really love you for the sake of Allaah, I will give you advice and likewise you’ll do the same for me. This act of giving advice is very rare amongst those who claim that they love each other for the sake of Allaah. It may be that there is some sincerity in their love, but it is not complete. Therefore, every one of us should safeguard the other, and in this case the valuable thing to be given due to loving one another for the sake of Allaah is that everyone sincerely advises one another, by enjoining good and forbidding evil – always and forever.”

As-Sa‘di said:“And in the hours before dawn”, which is just before dawn “they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness”. So they made their prayer last until the time just before dawn, then they sat, concluding their night-time worship (qiyaam al-layl) by asking Allah, may He be exalted, for forgiveness, in the manner of a sinner seeking forgiveness for his sins. There is a special virtue in praying for forgiveness in the time before dawn that is not present at any other time, as Allah, may He be exalted, says describing the people of faith and obedience (interpretation of the meaning):“and those who pray and beg Allah’s Pardon in the last hours of the night” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:17].

Ibn al-Jawzi:
Understand that life has occasions. One time it is poverty, and another time it is wealth. Once it is honour, and another it is humiliation. Happy is he is who remains grounded in each situation.
[Sayd al-Khatir p.282 | Source]
I was enjoining you to do good, but wasn’t doing it myself; and I was forbidding you to do evil, but was doing it myself.
Person in Hell, Saheeh Muslim #2989 (via hassan-ibn-abdul-qadir)
Whoever has no shyness, has nothing of humanity left with them, except for flesh and blood.
Ibn al-Qayyim, Miftah Dar as-Sa’adah (p. 277)
Before going to sleep
“Whoever recites ten verses at night will not be recorded as one of the heedless.”
— The Prophetﷺ | Sahih al-Targheeb (2/81)
It’s hard sometimes, but it’s important to remember.
Learn to suffer a little for the love of God without telling everyone about it.
