I wont say an exception is not possible, but billionaires do not donate money. They buy control over something that is important to them. If there are exceptions I have not seen them. Every time you see a billionaire being a philanthropist and actually giving a significant percent of their money look a bit deeper and you will find them actually buying control, not giving money away.
A prime example is Bill Gates. Well known as a philanthropist, primarily for his large scale donation to education. Except what actually happened is he essentially bought a sharing control in the US education system and proceeded to fucked it up terribly. I will believe his intentions were good, but frankly that doesnāt matter. He fucked it up because he is a billionaire and billionaires just canāt give up control. It is how they became billionaires in the first place, it is baked into their minds.
They just canāt accept that Notre Dame isnāt for sell. Because that is what ādonationsā mean to billionaires. They want to buy a controlling stake in something that they care about, and they have been doing so long they think that this is philanthropy. Because it makes sense to them that if they are going to invest *their* money that they should make sure it is done right. But they generally have no fucking idea what they are doing when it comes to these things.
Anyway if billionaires actually wanted to help the first thing they need to do is let go of their control and pay god damn taxes.
Yeah, thatās why you donāt excuse ādonationsā as a reason why the rich shouldnāt pay more in taxes. This is exactly why we need their help funding essential services through TAXES. So THEY stay out of what DOES NOT belong to them.

In the documentary, How to Survive a Plague they mention this very fact. Reagan was the president during this time and do you know what he did when the LGBTQ community begged him for help? He fucking laughed at us. His administration CELEBRATED that finally, āGodās judgement in the form of a plagueā was striking down queer people.Ā They saw it as a form of divine population control.Ā Reagan could have given a rats ass about usā¦
Until the plague began to effect straight people. THEN his administration cared. Because the people that mattered were finally getting sick. And finally the millions of dollars in research money was poured into finding a treatment for HIV. But by then, so many LGBTQ individuals had died.Ā More people died from the initial HIV epidemic than the Vietnam war.
So when straight people complain about being āoppressedā and why there isnāt a straight pride parade? Go fuck yourself. No one has ever tried to wipe you out through a plague, ignored your cries for help as a disease wiped out massive amounts of your community.
Interesting how a pandemic can be shown to disproportionately affect oppressed groups and conservatives can plan to claim negligence when they decide to weaponise it. I hope nothing like that ever happens again.

āHello, my name is Sharlene Pike and I am a black transgender person originating from South Africa and working as a receptionist/host. I moved to the United States 4 years ago alone and without any support, as my parents died in my home country when I was 18. Being a transgender black female immigrant places three discrimination barriers and makes it extremely hard to socialize and find a job to live properly. Nevertheless, I tried my best. I had been working at 7 different companies as a receptionist/host/waitress for these four years, but 2 months ago I lost my job. The reasoning I was given - āstaff reduction due to COVID-19 complicationsā. I have been unemployed for these 2 months, but the reason I canāt start a new job is not COVID-19. In February, I was diagnosed with stage-3 esophageal cancer. I had no prior knowledge of my diagnosis as this type of cancer can be quite concealed, and I had only two or three weeks of eating discomfort before I had a medical consultation. The company I was working at had a special program to support staff members who need expensive surgeries or therapies, and I believe my diagnosis was the true reason I was reduced, since it happened just after I told my office I might need an extended medical leave. The sum I have spent on the medical procedures only to clarify the future treatment equals my 3 salaries. The sum Iām asking for is actually covering first 6 months of treatment and the cheapest drug - basically simply to have a chance to survive. I have no health insurance and I canāt take a new job because my health condition significantly deteriorated. The thing that I have learnt throughout these months is that it is very hard to get any, even basic medical help if you are transgender. The death rate of the esophageal cancer is about 30%, which is very high, and I ask you to help me to have a chance to survive. I tried to deal with everything without anyone by my side, but current circumstances left me with no choice but to ask you to donate and share my story. Thank you very much.ā
