hey guys, i know i’ve been supremely absent and i feel like i should explain, rather than disappearing completely with no warning -

i’m going on an indefinite hiatus. honestly, i’m pretty sure i won’t be back, but i’m not deleting the blog right away in case. so i’m pretty much leaving, unless something changes…and i may be on every now and again.

being honest: i have enjoyed my time on tumblr, but it doesn’t make me happy…if that makes sense. it’s more of an addiction than something which i love and which makes me a better person. so leaving is hard to do, but i feel as though it’s the right decision for me now.

so maybe i haven’t 100% left - maybe i’ll come back in a couple months, or be on sporadically, or something. but being honest, it’s unlikely.

you guys have been fantastic! so, thank you for interacting with both me and Tony. i will miss you.

okay but…james rhodes’ mad scientist aesthetic. the kid went to MIT to study aviation engineering, he is a little nerd, okay. so like. imagine mit era rhodey and tony renting out a lab space in school to share for the school year (other science/engineering students are like “???are they allowed to do that???” and honestly the professors don’t know but they’re pretty sure howard stark came and made the dean cry when he tried to tell them no so they’re just letting it happen.)

everyone expects Tony’s half of the lab to be messy and for him to always have something slightly on fire.

what they don’t expect is rhodey’s fucking catastrophe of a work station. there are spare piece of metal everywhere, empty coffee cups, old to-go boxes. his computer is missing its back panel because he cannibalized it for parts. he once fell asleep there with goggles on and had an indent on his forehead for days. There was an Incident That We Don’t Talk About™, that left his neck and chest GREEN. (D O N O T A S K W H Y H E I S L E G A L L Y N O T A L L O W E D T O S A Y) He’s not quite covered in oil or grease, but his dark circles are in a league of their own, and his hands and arms are permanently littered with bruised and cuts and burns from building prototypes, and experiments gone wrong. To the very least, he wasn’t proud of himself for overslept fo today’s important meeting. Not to mention the subway was failed to operate somehow in this hectic morning, so yeah. Basically, the emergency was Bucky who was running late to the meeting. He almost felt sorry for the man who was kind enough to hold the door open for making him…surprised? Getting the wrong idea? Something like that.

“Thanks, you’re a lifesaver—Oh, uhm…” By the time he entered the elevator, it just hit him on who this guy was. Shit, he fucked up so bad this time anyway. “Uh, no, Sir. Sorry if I made an impression that something was wrong, but well,” he winced, “I just kinda late for the meeting and I had to hurry up?” Well, that was embarrassing.

Shaking his head, Rhodey held up a hand. ‘Relax, man. First off, there’s no need to bother with that sir stuff, here.’ It wasn’t as if it was a formal setting, and this guy didn’t...seem to be military. He wasn’t one for holding his title over others in most situations, anyway. ‘And that is something wrong. It’s no big deal. Besides, I know how bosses can get if you’re late for something.’ Through purely second-hand experience, of course. Rhodey’s seen Tony late for so many things that he’s practically gone through it himself.

Rhodey couldn’t help but laugh at that, though for the sake of what was probably a terrible, terrible headache, he kept it quiet. ‘I’m ninety per cent sure he already has an AI copy of himself ready for upload, so maybe he wouldn’t need to.’

Settling back as she sat up, he felt extremely sympathetic at the unhappy sounds her body was making. He’d been there. He knew the pain. ‘I don’t need sainthood, but I wouldn’t say no to a cheeseburger.’ Rhodey rose to his feet and offered her a hand to clasp. ‘I could probably rustle some up. Tony’s got some weird shit in his labs.’
