@stitches-running
finally got back on the trails this morning 🙌🏻
Tonight I got home and the sun hadn’t quite set. I threw all my stuff on the counter, let the dogs out and quickly changed for my run. I was happy to catch the sun setting in my first mile. i ran 5 EZ with a goal to keep my heart rate at 155 . I’m so glad I have running and amazing people in my life. I’m waiting for the storm to pass and I know it will eventually.
Trail run done
Trying to knit faster for holiday gift-giving while maintaining non-scrunchy gauge in colorwork. 😬
Random, short catch up. Thanksgiving in Wyoming was great. G and I ran a turkey trot (his first race) and he made a delicious bacon wrapped turkey.
Otherwise, I’ve been running a lot of miles (77 days until Cowtown Ultra!) I got new trail shoes, and I decorated for Christmas.

too much alcohol friday night, which made my half-marathon on sunday a bloody slog. we were running into the wind for at least six miles, and it was 39 degrees fahrenheit at the start, so it was a cold slog, too. i had fleece-lined leggings, a warm vest, a windbreaker, a wooly cap, and gloves on the whole race, and i was still chilled at the end. but it was done, if not necessarily done well; and i hit 43 miles last week; and so i’m content enough.
i’ve been hungry, though, hungry all day, every day. my body wants cheese and steak, potatoes and bread, and all the woodsy vegetables and leafy greens i can get my mitts on. i assume it’s partly my increased mileage and partly the cold and maybe mostly being entirely over counting calories. so today i had a massive cheat day, finishing off with a glass of red wine. i’m going to listen to my body over these next few weeks: if i don’t hit my weekly mileage, if i eat potatoes or pasta every day, if i read nothing but pulpy trash–it’s okay. i’ve worked hard all year, and i’m stronger than i’ve ever been in my life. i’m giving myself permission to relax.
except–no more getting too drunk. that nonsense has to stop.
what a beautiful day for a long run. proud new member of the 26.2 club
Ready, aim, fire 🔥🔥🔥
scenes from a snowy, light-filled sunday :)
A quickly setting late afternoon sun adding a little warmth to some chilly miles. ☀️
Of course it starts to rain the very second I head out for my run. Of course. Didn’t really matter, still did the miles but honestly I’m already sick of running in darkness all the time. We’re in for a winter full of mental games over here.
Friday 5 miles
Saturday 10 miles with negative splits
Today I rest
77 days to go
Did laps in the park for a charity run today, it was for a runner’s little girl; All the coolest ultrarunners from Bulgaria were there and were ‘team captains’ and everyone got to choose their team. I didn’t hesitate for a split second and got into Maria Nikolova’s team, she is the most badass woman ever and I admire her so, so much!! I also got to talk to Krasse Gueorguiev, who has done some pretty impressive ish, that’s him in that second photo! 🙌
Remember when I was going to run 12 easy last weekend but accidentally ran 15.5 with half of it not so easy?
Retried it today. Nailed it.
Took a little while to get out again but today the sun was saying hello for a little while and there were three friends waiting for me. Small group, big fun.
