Woke up early and made Challah with Mom, using my mother-in-law's recipe. Paul Hollywood wishes he had this crumb.
Recipe (makes 2 loaves)
1 3/4 cup warm water
1 Tb yeast (2 packets)
1 cup + 1 Tb sugar
5 eggs
1 Tb salt
8-8 1/2 cups flour
1. Add yeast and 1 Tb sugar to water, mix and let prove
2. Combine 4 of the eggs, and yeast water, add salt and sugar, then work flour in 1 cup at a time
3. Knead dough until it can be made into a smooth ball
4. Cover and let rise until doubled in size. This recipe makes a monstrous amount of dough.
5. Knead again until.smmoth and elastic. separate into 12 pieces. Roll piecees out into long snakes.
6. Using 6 plaits for each loaf YouTube how to do a six strand braid because the hell if I can figure it out.
7. Tuck ends in as best you can, smoosh braids into loaf shapes and set on greased pan
8. Cover and allow to rise again until doubled in size. Use 5th egg to coat risen dough with an egg wash.
9. Bake loaves at 375 for 30-35 min
-yes, it's fine to halve the recipe
- IDK if it works for bread machines
-yes you can use the dough hook on a stand mixer to do the kneading. That's what we did because we both have carpal tunnel.
-if you like really sweet challah you can throw 1/2 cup of honey in there too

When Your Spell Fails
no witch succeeds with their spells 100% of the time. here’s a short list of reasons why it could have happened and some solutions
possible reasons why:
distraction - a spell you’re not invested in isn’t going to have much power behind it. if you’re concentrated more on you. if you cast a motivation spell while planning out your vacation, it’s going to subtract from that motivation.
rosemary replaces everything - supposedly. it supplies general power, but if you add nothing into the spell that has any real meaning to you, then what is that power supposed to do? where does that energy go with no direction?
associations - the correspondences everyone else lists for herbs and stones and planets can be very useful, but sometimes you have a personal conflicting association. perhaps lavender is gross to you, and not peaceful at all. then that dream sachet isn’t going to give you peaceful dreams.
didn’t help the spell - magic does not exist in a vaccum. spells can only do so much, but if you don’t make the effort, it much less likely to work. job spells dont work if you don’t fill out applications, love spells don’t work if you don’t go out and talk to people, and so on.
too many cooks - if you cast 10 love spells, and yet no one is attracted to you, it’s entirely possible they all did work but they all conflicted with each other, and ended up canceling each other out.
shot for the stars- sometimes you try to achieve something, and you set your expectations too high. either it’s impossible, you’re trying from the wrong angle, or you didn’t get as much as you wanted.
cancellation - sometimes a spell may appear not to work when it does, but the results are invisible because it canceled something else out. say you cast a money spell and get no extra cash after several weeks, it could be just helping you maintain your current income and blocking extraneous expenses.
impatience - unless you programmed a working time limit into it, the spell could be working and you just don’t see the results yet. these things can take time.
out of your depth - if you don’t feel like you’re ready to do a spell, your lack of confidence or discomfort can either disable the spell or not give it enough power to work
what to do:
take a break, ground, cleanse, and give it time. refocus your intentions
contemplate each ingredient and step in the spell, and modify
use the ingredients that you know best work for you, old standards hold up.
think about what you could do to help the spell work. what mundane methods haven’t you tried?
take a step back and look at it realistically. is there another angle you can approach this from, can you break it down into smaller steps?
return to the spells you are comfortable doing, and work from there.

magickal snickerdoodles ☀️💘
merry meet! <3 today i made some wonderful and chewy snickerdoodles, and i wanted to share it with you all so heres the recipe :))
✨youll need 🍄🌙:
✨1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
✨1 1/2 cups sugar
✨2 large eggs
✨2 teaspoons vanilla
✨2 3/4 cup flour
✨1 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
✨1/2 teaspoon baking soda
✨1 teaspoon salt
cinnamon-sugar mixture 🌿🌟:
✨1/4 cup sugar
✨1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon (love and happiness 💖✨make sure to make your intent clear!)
what to do🍓💘:
preheat oven to 350° f
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar for 4-5 minutes until light and fluffy. Scrape the sides of the bowl and add the eggs and vanilla. Cream for 1-2 minutes longer.
Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt, just until combined.
In a small bowl, stir together sugar and cinnamon.
If time allows, wrap the dough and let refrigerate for 20-30 minutes. Roll into small balls until round and smooth. Drop into the cinnamon-sugar mixture and coat well. Using a spoon, coat for a second time, ensuring the cookie balls are completely covered. *To make flatter snickerdoodles, press down in the center of the ball before placing in the oven. This helps to keep them from puffing up in the middle. *
Place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes. Let cool for several minutes on baking sheet before removing from the pan.
enjoy !!!!! blessed be 🌙💘
also this makes an ungodly amount of cookies so this is perfect for sharing with friends!!! <3
Khajiiti sweet-stuffed duck
If you’re thinking of hosting guests for dinner and want to impress, this delicious duck recipe is for you, all the way from Elsweyr. It’s surprisingly simple to make (though time consuming), and it’s absolutely mouthwatering with honey and orange to counter the delicious savoury and crispy skin. Carve up and serve with a side salad or some baked herbed baby potatoes!
You will need: 1 medium-sized whole duck, prepared for baking 2 large oranges 1 cup dried cranberries 1 ½ cups honey 150ml white wine 200ml chicken or vegetable stock 3 tbsp butter 1 cup apple puree 1 banana, mashed ½ cup fresh grated parmesan cheese 3 sprigs fresh rosemary 1 sprig fresh thyme 1 tsp dried sage 1 cup breadcrumbs 1 tsp cornflour 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar 1 tsp crushed garlic or garlic paste 2 tsp whole cloves Olive oil Sea salt and fresh cracked black pepper
Method: Preheat oven to 160C/320F.
Poke holes evenly across the duck skin and stuff each hole with a clove. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, to taste. Drizzle with the juice of ½ an orange, then stuff the inner cavity with the other half (skin removed).
In a mixing bowl, combine ½ cup honey, 2 tbsp butter, dried cranberries, sage, breadcrumbs, banana, parmesan, and apple puree. Stir well until totally combined. Stuff the cavity of the duck with this mixture.
Baste the outside of the duck lightly with olive oil and ½ cup honey, and grate the zest from the orange you just peeled over the duck (about 1 tbsp worth). Place the duck in a deep baking dish with 100ml water and roast for 45-50 minutes. Turn the heat to 220C/428F and bake for an additional 20 minutes until the skin is browned and crisp.
In a small pot, grate the zest of the other orange and boil with ¼ cup water for 3 minutes. Juice the orange into the pot, then add the balsamic vinegar, rosemary, thyme, and garlic, and the remaining honey. Stir in ½ tbsp butter and the cornflour and reduce to a simmer until the mixture is thick and reduced (about 5 minutes).
Remove the duck from the oven and remove any fat. Pour the juices into a separate pan and add the wine and stock, as well as half the orange zest syrup and the remaining butter. Mix well and pour back into the roasting pan, then place the duck back in.
Baste the duck with the rest of the sauce, and return to the oven at 160C/320F for 5 minutes. Remove and carve up to serve.
