When Evergreen had initially stepped into the guild that afternoon the last thing she had expected was to come face to face with a flower bearing oaf. The gesture was so bizarre and unexpected, yet so utterly him that it almost sickened the fairy mage. The giant with the heart of gold, a living contradiction that somehow still managed to bring a shadow of a blush to her cheeks.
“... Violets? Hmph, I guess they don’t look terrible...” She grumbled, but still accepted the flowers nonetheless, the darkening shade of pink rising on her face evidence that she was more flattered by the gift than she chose to verbally admit, “... Thank you, I suppose...”
She adored flowers almost as much as she loved statues, the numerous types of flora and stone decorating her room proof of that, and she was silently touched that the man had decided to welcome her home with them. The trip she had taken with the rest of her team had ended up taking longer than she had predicted, turning a week long trip into two.
In normal situations a prolonged mission really wouldn’t have bothered her terribly - as they were more often away than they were at home anyway-, however, ever since she had become closer to Elfman, she found herself dreading long duration assignments. Now she had someone to leave behind on her adventures and, while she refused to admit it, she did find herself missing him from time to time on their trips and, if the flowers were any indication, he missed her just as much.
“Now, are you just going to make a lady stand here? At least offer to take me to dinner after such a long trip back. Honestly, sometimes I think you’re more of a beast than a man,”
With one last affectionate glance towards the flowers, Evergreen pointedly ignored making eye contact with her sort of boyfriend before she grabbed his wrist and turned on her heal to face the door. This was her pathetic and probably vaguely rude way of asking the man to dinner, but, really, she supposed nothing about their relationship was exactly by the book.
“So? Come on, I don’t have all day you know!”
