Second climb of our #queenstage 👑 on Sunday started in #tiefencastel on a height of 850 m and ended on #albulapass on 2.312 m after 22 km climbing with max. 12%. After an easy start and the first steeper sectors with 12% we reached picturesque village #berguen on a height of 1.350 m. We took the chance to rest some minutes and refilled our bidons with fresh water to be best prepared for the following climb. Albula is still closed for cars and so not far after the village we reached a barrier and after the very limited number of cars so far dropped to zero! 😎 However we were still sure to be able to reach the top of the summit with our bicycles. Later we were forced to hike some meters because of roadworks and met one cyclist coming down and told us „you are not able to reach the summit because of snow fields blocking the road!“ We answered that we have to move to the other side and he only said „Ohhh! Have fun!“ Now the former chats stopped and everbody was thinking about what will come. Meanwhile it was almost 6:30 pm, we rode 92 km and turning back was no option. 🤪 Not far away indeed we reached the first snowfield, slipped from the steep mountain on the right and had to cross walking. And not far away, just 1,5 km below the top, we reached a much bigger snowfield and again we had to walk with our cycling shoes in snow going up to our knees till the end of the snowfield. ❄️ Finally 1,5 km later we reached the top of Albula and it was a magnificent atmosphere being alone on the top in the evening only surrounded by snow and big grey mountains! 🤩 Satisfied we descended down 9km and 650 m in the valley. After further 3 km in the valley our adventure ended in our Apt. 😅 106 km cycling and 2.300 m climbing were no big numbers, but in this cold conditions we were very happy being back ... Ahh ...
